So you are suggesting that the democrats were responsible for Bush's spending the moment they took control of the house and senate in 2007?
If they gave Bush what he asked for, then yes they were responsible. This is the great part of being an Independent, I can sit back and see that both sides are screwed up. Don't need or want to belong to either party.

Of course he has veto power but why would he veto something that he wants. Look at it this way, lets say you're the president and your parents are congress. You're 10 and ask your parents for a candy bar and they give it to you, are you gonna throw it away. It's what you asked for.

It IS the correct position. Congress controls the purse, pres signs the budget. I left the GOP in 2003 precisely because of their fiscal irresponsibility. Glad to see you place responsibility where it belongs.

Yeah he's mercifully exposed himself and left the scene.

Um, are you attempting to somehow say that Obama bears no responsibility at all for America generating debt instead of surpluses? The facts do not bear that out. Your non-sequitir of "racism" has nothing at all to do with spending, and whether or not that's true, it's moot, talks around the 'Q', and dishonestly deflects from the issue.

it should have been just what you ordered - to the "T" actually.
Spending $1 Trillion on military/security related items seems excessive to me. Cutting that budget 1 for 1 with non-security expenses makes total sense to me.

There is a difference between wanting something and needing something. Just because you want something doesn't mean that you need it and any President should realize the difference and act accordingly. There is a huge difference between a child and the President of the United States.

But I agree with your main point.
Yes, Bush was in office when the crash began, but it's foundation was laid back in the Clinton administration, when Clinton signed the Gramm-Bliley Act, which dismantled Glass-Steagal. Republicans came up with the bill, both Republicans and Democrats overwhelmingly supported it, and Clinton signed it. It took two to tango in order to make the crash happen, and Democrats and Republicans were perfect dance partners.

I am glad someone else sees the light. The problem is the Democrats only blame the Republicans and the Republicans only blame the Democrats when both hands are dirty as all get out. I agree with you.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.
