Fiery Kentucky Senator Rand Paul is filibustering the nomination of drone mastermind John Brennan for CIA Director. The one-man show began today at 11:47 a.m.

So what does Rand Paul want? Yesterday, the Obama administration announced they they had the right to use drone strikes on American citizens, on American soil, without due process. Rand Paul is filibustering the nomination of Brennan until Obama makes a promise to uphold the Constitution, and to never deny any American his Constitutional rights.

Today, Rand Paul is a hero. Obama? He's a freakin' goat. I bashed the bejesus out of George Bush when he was in office, for taking a giant crap on the Constitution, but what Obama is doing is something that not even George Bush would have thought of.... No, not even in his wildest wet dreams. Obama is Bush on steroids, and his assault on the Constitution of the United States needs to be stopped. Kudos to Rand Paul for having the balls to take him on.

Article is here.

I disagree with the drone strikes in the US.

The filibuster has always struck me as childish, though.

Is nobody else worried about these warrantless drone strikes?

No due process is a very bad thing for Americans.

1-YES

2-Sort of- its the only way of stopping things

3-YES immensley. It scares me for the country!

4-Absolutely!!!

Good for Rand Paul for not only doing this, but having the balls to do it the right way.

Rand Paul is doing the right thing here by making this stand. The filibuster is needed to make people understand exactly what drone strikes in this country would mean.

The Senator is one of the few who remembers the Constitution. I don't always agree with Rand Paul, but he is doing an honorable thing today. He is doing something that hasn't been done in a long time...taking a stand for our rights of liberty and the Constitution.

I worry about these drones as much as I worry about the provisions in NDAA that suspends due process...it is something for all of us to be concerned with.

Rand Paul is doing the American people a great service today by bringing this issue out of the darkness and shining a bright light on it for all to see.

I find it remarkable that many on the left wanted GW Bush charged with war crimes for authorizing the waterboarding of known terrorists who planned the 9/11 attacks and had other plans in the works yet they blindly and without concern or comment give Obama a pass on the murder of Americans and others with drones in many sovereign countries and now, incredibly, suggests that it is possible to authorize the murder of an American citizen, on American soil, using a drone.

Weren't these same people moaning not four years ago that terrorists held in Guantanamo Bay, terrorists caught on the battlefields of Afghanistan, Iraq and other sites, needed to be provided the full benefit of America's constitutional law, due process, habeas corpus, and full trials in the continental USA under your system of justice. Now, apparently, it's okay for one man, potentially sitting in a golf cart, to approve the direct murder of one of your citizens. What changed?

Disgusting.

Rand getting tired. Someone give him some caffeine.

I don't have a problem with the concept of using drones to kill enemies, even if those enemies happen to be US citizens

My concerns with the program, as currently constituted, is the lack of due process and transparency. I'd like to see the process standardized so that the american people can review such decision, and hold those making the decisions accountable

IOW, Paul is still a light-weight grand-standing douche bag

Someone needs to get Rand some pickmeups

Good on him, this drone **** is getting old. It's one thing to go after terrorists, but a drone should never fly over American soil.

I'm not a huge fan of the trickle down fairy that Paul believes in, but I'm sure as **** not going to support drone strikes on US citizens in country without due process. count me in support of a filibuster until that **** gets straightened out and receives enough daylight to dry it into beef jerky.

Good afternoon, CJ.

What changed? The party that has the POTUS and the majority in the Senate. Also, they are still trying to say they were not in favor of going to war in Iraq, even though we have a record of their votes. I believe that is what is known as "selective amnesia" in certain circles. The rest of us call it ..... :bs:

Hi Lady P - hope you're well, and didn't get hit too hard with the slush storm.

You just know that 'without due process' involves 2 low level government idiots looking at each other and saying '**** it, let's nail his ass tonight'.

I enjoy the fact he is doing it the right way. Some one get the man a phonebook.

yep. the administration needs to walk back this position, and quickly. there isn't going to be broad support for killing citizens in the US with remote control helicopters and no trials. even the 2002-era Republican patriot act cheerleaders probably wouldn't support that if GWB was still president.

We lucked out this time. It's almost Spring-like here today, and the old snow is almost all melted. That's so the new snow, that will doubtless arrive soon, has a nice dry spot to start anew! :thumbdown
