Senator Rand Paul's Epic Filibuster: Reads 'Alice in Wonderland'

I mean, what's he ragging about ? The AG tells him certain weapons would be used against terrorism inside the US and his response is : "Satanic CoCo hued AG Plans To Target Aunt Bee With Guided Missles" ? Sounds decidedly farfetched....................

Good evening Bonz - I see you've harvested your latest crop of the sweet weed - have fun!!

While your scenario is far-fetched, it is not far-fetched for our government to target and kill a US citizen without due process.

If the filibuster finally actually requires the members to recite anything then I am in favor. If Rand Paul wants to sit in the chamber and recited his mothers recipies for Beef Stroganoff that is what the constitution allows. At least he is not upholding the constitution with no effort.

My original post stands...Like CJ, I feel vindicated!..... laughing so hard my sides hurt!

Wyden is a "hardcore Liberal" only in your head.................

There are no hardcore liberals in my head, trust me.

Wyden's ratings: 100% from the NARAL, 100% from the NAACP, 100% from the National Education Assoc, 100% from the Brady Campaign, 100% from AFL-CIO, 100% from the NOW, etc, etc

0% from the FreedomWorks, 2% from the Citizens Against Government Waste, 0% from the USA Chamber of Commerce, 4% from the American Conservative Union, 0% from the Family Research Council, "F-" from the NRA, 0% from Americans for Immigration Control, etc, etc

Looks pretty liberal to me, both in the good and in the bad way.

I'm not there yet, but I do have an observation to offer the Right: The constant shrieking and neverending mounting crescendo of hysteria is just making people completely numb and uncaring of any "message' contained therein, either overt or covert..............

I agree, the President is rather shrill and totally ignored these days, but I'm sure my friends on the right know this well.

Hi 2M - all is good, I trust - are you getting some of that wet/snow weather in your part of the country?

I'm visiting in NYC. From northern Virginia spouse reports no big deal. Rand Paul is doing a fine Jimmy Stewart.

I'm not a huge fan of the trickle down fairy that Paul believes in, but I'm sure as **** not going to support drone strikes on US citizens in country without due process. count me in support of a filibuster until that **** gets straightened out and receives enough daylight to dry it into beef jerky.

I agree completely.

Maybe. That you think the country will then turn to a Cub Scout on LSD, like Rand Paul, is where you lose me.................

Insurgency we understand perhaps a little bit more because of the Taliban. And that is that they went about systematically understanding how to disrupt and change a person's entire processes. And these Taliban -- I'm not trying to say the Republican Party is the Taliban -- no, that's not what we're saying. I'm saying an example of how you go about is to change a person from their messaging to their operations to their front line message. And we need to understand that insurgency may be required when the other side, the House leadership, does not follow the same commands, which we entered the game with.

Maybe he figures some of his colleges might be on the potential target list.

There is absolutely no justification for killing American citizens without due process. The president should be ashamed of himself. We need to stop letting politicians abuse this fear of terrorism. More Americans are killed by food poisoning than by terrorists each year.

I also approve of having to actually stand there and talk in order to filibuster.

Kudos to Rand Paul for protesting the abuse of military power on American citizens. Also for his choice of reading material.

Oh, I don't know. Killed a bunch during the Civil War. Seems like the same thing.

Anyone from the Left who sees any validity in the antics of the son of the honorable Dr. "Quack" Rand needs to question the effectiveness of their meds........................

Rand is obviously grandstanding since an actual talking filibuster isn't needed, but if ever there was cause to grandstand, this is it.

Go, Rand. Go!

Good evening to you, Jack. :2wave: back to you.

Aren't most of the states in flyover land trying to ban "Alice in Wonderland" on the grounds that it is " eeebow" ?.....................

I dont know, I think anyone from the Right or the Left who'd allow or support anyone in government the ability to kill at will American citizens needs more than their head examined.

Right. You're what I like to call "behind the curve", to be polite....................

Not that I've heard. After all, there are so many current counterparts in DC to the characters in "Alice in Wonderland," that they will probably make it required reading, as a lesson in how fouled up improper behavior can make things... :)

If behind the curve you mean I'm not willing to become a slave, a mongrel dog, one that gives its undying loyalty to and has complete trust in the State than yes, behind it I am.
