    Hmmm.

If someone (the parents I imagine) felt that the recent US intervention in the mideast (ie removing Saddam) was of great benefit to Israel and caused by the Twin Towers, then I can see where they might think it was a suitable Purim costume from the description above... an "act of God" that ultimately resulted in something that helped preserve them from their enemies.

Still think it is in poor taste but maybe not as insane as I first thought.
I think that you are giving the parents way too much credit.

I wonder how they would feel if someone else dressed their kids in SS uniforms.

The poor taste sword cuts both ways.

Well, I did that because I thought it hypocritical from mr. Dov Hikind, he has the right to protest anti-Jewish material but then the should not risk the same indignation from black people by dressing up like a black basketball player. Because what is good for the goos is good for the Gander. I saw it on the Daily Show and I just thought, making a mistake is one thing but then own up to your mistake, apologize and promise to not to it again, mr. Hikind did not do this in the footage I saw.

But, it would be the same for me if a known African American civil rights protester would have dressed up like a Orthodox Jewish person. Or if that same man would have dressed up like a Palestinian or anything else insensitive to other people.

That too is not a religious issue for me, I just think that if you are highly sensitive to make sure you and your cultural/religious/racial are not slighted and insulted, you should do your best not to do it to other races/cultures/religions too.

oh, bull****. they come to legitimate sites and try to mainstream; strategically posting anti-Jewish news stories to get their point across without getting banned. it's ****ing transparent.

For some reason I think that if a Muslim had done this, we'd have endless Conservative posts screaming "Religion of peace".

Why is religion even being discussed? Some douches dressed their kids up in an abhorrent costume. Who gives a crap about what their religion is.

If a poster arrived here who did nothing but dredge up such articles and who tried to tar all Muslims accordingly, it is more likely that very people who are defending this one would be screaming "Islamophobe!"

    That's a bit paranoid, really.

I have known and still do know good jewish people. I've made love to jewish women, so I'm not antisemitic.

But there is a huge difference between good jewish people and the government of Israel.

And unfortunately, the fingerprints of that government are all over too many suspicious acts. I don't want it to be that way, it just IS that way.

I have to agree here. It was not like this was some thing that ran through the jewish community. About the only thing this proves is jewish people are just as capable of distasteful expressions of idiocy as any other group of people. bad choice for a costume, but really not very important at all. how far did they have to look to find this? It is like hunting around for the crazy person after some fire to make a story. i aint got no time for that.

I have to say I'd never heard the term Purim until now, so if nothing else I consider this a bit of new knowledge and every day should include broadened knowledge.

You mean like the gang of Conservatives who dredge up such articles and you never seem to have a problem with? Gardener only seems to have a problem with stories that speak badly of the good Israelis. You've essentially ignored the most salient point of this thread, which is you know, the facts that these kids parents are questionable at best, and moved straight ahead into your broken record screams of antisemitism and rah-rah-rah-Israel.
