McCain claims ‘massive cover-up’ on Benghazi

I remember when attacks on our embassies and consulates made the news one day . . . and were forgotten . . . you know, we all knew why we were attacked, because they hate our freedoms . . . and the people who died? Well, they knew what they were getting into when they took the job. Twelve times over the Bush years and approximately thirty-five times since 1958 our interests have been attacked overseas. Where were all the calls for accountability when US Diplomat David Foy died in the attack of March 2, 2006, in Karachi? Granted, most of the dead in the attacks under Bush's watch were not Americans, but most worked for us. They died protecting American interests.

No outrage for them?

Where have you been Unitedwestand for the past five months ?

This is what the investigation is all about. While Obama and the White House spent two weeks blaming a You Tube video and refusing to admit it was a terrorist attack while the informed already knew with in 24 hours that the terrorist were affiliated with Al Qaeda. The British knew who these terrorist were when the consulate was still under attack. The Brits had already pulled their people out days before knowing what was going on.

McCain believes there's a White House cover up. That Obama was runing for reelection telling the people that he killed Osama bin Laden and that Al Qaeda was on the run when in fact Al Qaeda can now be found operating all over the Middle East and North Africa. When G.W. Bush left the White House, Al Qaeda was confined to Yemen, the Horn of Africa and Pakistan. Obama's policies has allowed Al Qaeda to expand it's base of operations.

It's interesting that many on the left thought the entire war against Al Qaeda only involved getting Osama bin Laden. Bin Laden wasn't even the mastermind of 9/11, it was Khalid Shaikh Mohammed who was. It was the enhanced interrogations of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed after his capture in 2003 that led to identifying OBL's courier that led to OBL compound in Pakistan last year.

According to intelligence reports, Bin Laden was forced in to retirement around 2004 he was to hot and since he no longer had access to his money, who needed him ? He was just a figure head.

Last week I was introduced to a friend of a friend, he's part of the Special Warfare Community, in particular Army Special Forces. He said that while the attack was taking place on the consulate in Benghazi, before the CIA annex came under attack that British SAS were only a few clicks from the consulate. They (SAS) contacted the American State Department wanting to know if they wanted them to intervene and rescue the Americans at the consulate. The State Department did nothing, no response at all. Does this guy have any credibility ???

What ever happened with the investigations with all of the classified intelligence that was flowing out of the Obama White House last year. Obvious that these leaks were for Obama's own political gain to get reelected. That's right, the Obama White House and Attorney General Eric Holder would investigate themselves. And the MSM gives the Obama White another pass.

Remember Nixon and Watergate ? Nixon never perjured himself, he didn't order the break in at the DNC HQ's at the Watergate complex. Nixon had no knowledge of the break in until days after. But he initiated a cover up until after the elections and that was an impeachable offense. Even the Republicans saw the evidence and told Nixon it was time to go.

Why not a peep from those present that survived?

Who denied the "extra" security requested and why?

Was "UBL is dead, GM is alive and Al Qaeda is on the run" worth playing ostrich and allowing the 4 deaths?

Just like with fast & fuzzy, nodoby did anything wrong, nobody at "the top" was aware of what was going on; shuffle some papers, move some peons around and boldly announce that "mistakes were made", changes will result and life goes on. Rinse and repeat...

I'm not suffering, I am retired. Also, living in Texas, I don't have to cuddle up with a sled dog at night to stay warm.

One of the best things about being retired is knowing that every dime I get from Social Security is a dollar that makes some right-wing nut clinch their teeth in anger.

This is hilarious. You think because Hillary "What does it matter?" Clinton gave testimony, that somehow all questions have been answered? Her testimony was a joke. Anyone who tried to ask her real questions was objectified, demonized, polarized. Just being asked a real question made her a victim to the Left.

Nevermind most of her testimony was fawning and gushing from her pals. You're aware that Panetta completely contradicted what Obama has repeatedly claimed during his testimony last week right? Do you even care?

Hillary Clinton lied to the faces of the families next to the caskets of their loved ones. She told them they died because of a video. The guy who made the video sits in jail. The guy who carried out the attack is holding court at coffee shops all over Libya.

Obama was AWOL all throughout the 7 hour attack. We still don't know what he was doing during the attack. He was the only one who could have ordered a cross border operation. That didn't happen. So where was he what was he doing? 4 americans fought for hours and DIED while Obama was nowhere to be found. Do you care?

There were more than a dozen people evacuated from the site? Where are they? Who are they? Why haven't we seen one interview from ANY of these people?

What evidence proves al qeada did the deed in Benghazi? Did we manage to find any calling card that can tie the attackers to al-qeada? The attackers could have been members of a local Libyan terrorist group or a rouge millita group with no ties to al qeada at all.i

If you are trying to find out exactly what happened In Benghazi you are asking for a pretty tall order. The attack in Benghazi was not the only event happening that night. There were reports of protests in both Libya and in Cairo Egypt just before the attack, and when the attack did happen it created complete pandimonium. Trying to access the situation is quite difficult when 300 things are happening at once.

Good for you - I'm also retired - been retired since I was 54 - a good conservative who planned for his future and is satisfied to live a simpler life now and not demand my government indulge me - and when the time comes, I will accept my government pension and other benefits I paid into over the years I worked since I was 15 and I'll pay the required taxes on them without guilt or grudge.

I'd be the last person to ever begrudge another person receiving such a payment they earned through their hard work and unlike you I'm not envious or jealous of what other people have or receive and so I'd have no need to "clinch my teeth in anger" at your gain.

How long did the attack last in Benghazi? Where was the nearest garrison of u.s soldiers near Libya? How long would it have taken for the soldiers to gear up, transit and deploy to the Benghazi consulate? How did Libya react to the attack? Why are none of these questions asked during the hearing?

As for the people who were evacuated, maybe they were just civilians caught up in the mayhem, or maybe they are not u.s. citizens or do not work for the embassy or the United States at all?
 
Over 58,000 Americans died in Vietnam.
About 4,500 Americans have died in Iraq so far.

Both wars were based on lies. Both wars have been littered with cover-ups.

About 2,200 Americans have died in Afghanistan so far. Many of those death are the result of Washington's lack of commitment to the troops in country. Washington, including the DoD, has been deeply involved in covering their mistakes, mistakes made due to incompetence and a lack of commitment to the mission and the troops in country.

Tell me how people are not demanding answers for the above and how Benghazi isn't political.

There have been 35 attacks upon U.S. embassies and consulates around the world in the past 55 years. The vast majority of them were attacks that took place right outside of the Embassies walls including your attack in Karachi, not U.S. sovereign territory. It's the responsibility of the host nation to protect the perimeter of any foreign diplomatic embassy or consulate. The vast majority of these attacks upon our embassies were bombings outside of the embassy walls.

Of the 35 attacks on American diplomatic embassies and consulate in the past 55 years, 7 of them the attackers were able to breach the perimeter and put foot on U.S. soverign soil. I'll list everyone where the perimeter wall was breached and when it became the responsibility of the Executive branch of the U.S. Government.

The attack lasted 7 hours at 2 different locations. Doherty and Woods died defending the second location. Panetta has admitted he was NOT in contact with Obama during this 7 hour attack. Obama was nowhere to be found. Stevens had repeatedly asked for more security, and warned of the growing threat in the area. His pleas were ignored. It wasn't like this area wasn't known for terrorist activity, especially after a war just happened within that country.

7 hours is a time frame reasonable to work with.

But you still have not answered my questions about which American troops we had on hand to deploy to Libya. Then there is the logistics of sending troops to Libya. We would have had to cooperate with the Libyan government to access their airfield and ask their permission to send more troops to the Benghazi consulate.

David Foy was targeted 20-yards from the Consulate. I am not saying the Obama Administration is not responsible for Benghazi. I question the outrage. From what I understand, there were hardly perimeter walls, and am I to assume that walls being breached is the requisite for outrage?

One of the questions being asked and Hillery Clinton, the State Department, Barack Obama and the White House refuse to answer, why was there a U.S. Consulate in Benghazi ? Diplomatic business is conducted at Embassies not at consulates. The U.S. Embassy for Libya is located in Tripoli. Consulates are for convenience of U.S. citizens who are on tourist or business visas and for issuing visas to foreign nationals. To the best of my knowledge, Benghazi wasn't a tourist destination for Americans. Benghazi doesn't even have a beach or any waves surfable ! What was the business that was taking place at the consulate in Benghazi, issuing tourist visas to Al Qaeda ?

The clumsy early handling of the public details concerning Benghazi is nothing compared to Watergate. The former is an example of poor PR. The latter put the nation on the brink of a full-fledged constitutional crisis.

With all due respect, where is Senator McCain's evidence? Allegations are not the same thing as evidence. That he has sharpened his allegations matters little. Evidence, alone, matters.

I'm not a pantywaist liberal. Unlike Obama who believes that Americans are no better than anyone else, I believe one American life is worth more than a hundred Arabs.

That same politicaly correct liberal mentality is what allowed Osama bin Laden to get away when President Clinton had him in his sights. Those feel good liberal policies cost almost 3,000 mostly Americans to die on 9-11-01.
