Ron Paul calls on U.N. IP enforcement agency to confiscate his own website

Ron Paul Calls on United Nations to Confiscate Domain Names of His Supporters

Earlier today, Ron Paul filed an international UDRP complaint against RonPaul.com and RonPaul.org with WIPO, a global governing body that is an agency of the United Nations. The complaint calls on the agency to expropriate the two domain names from his supporters without compensation and hand them over to Ron Paul.

On May 1st, 2008 we launched a grassroots website at RonPaul.com that became one of the most popular resources dedicated exclusively to Ron Paul and his ideas. Like thousands of fellow Ron Paul supporters, we put our lives on hold and invested 5 years of hard work into Ron Paul, RonPaul.com and Ron Paul 2012. Looking back, we are very happy with what we were able to achieve with unlimited enthusiasm and limited financial resources.

Last month, after Ron Paul expressed regret on the Alex Jones show over not owning RonPaul.com (in an interview titled “Ron Paul: The Internet Is Our Last Chance to Awaken America“), dozens of supporters urged us to contact Ron Paul to work out a deal.

Ron Paul, and his supporters, are a gift that keeps on giving

I mean, how funny is it that a man whose ideology rejects the use of govt force to coerce commerical activity and who thinks the UN is a part of a OWG conspiracy, to ask the UN to force a website to shut down?

I don't think Paul understands how WIPO works (or the U.N. as a whole, for that matter). I'm sympathetic to some kinds of libertarianism, and occasionally Paul will say something I can agree with, but on the whole I dislike him as an attention whore and a bit of an ignorant demagogue. I'd still probably vote for Rand over any of his competitors, even if I tend to actively dislike him even more than I do Ron.

He's gonna become dictator of the UN and conquer everywhere. What happened to 'no foreign bases'. I bet he's got drones.

Ron Paul supporters now with no one they can support? Sweet. Maybe a number of them will go back to reading science fiction and play their video games, leaving politics forever.

Re: Ron Paul calls on U.N. IP enforcement agency to confiscate his own website

    this is a bit misleading..

Ron Paul did indeed file a complaint... to ICANN

ICANN chooses 1 of 4 bodies to coordinate arbitration of the dispute... in this particular case, it's WIPO.

ICANN is a non-profit corporation... and the deal with all sorts of regulatory agencies across the globe....

the thing about it is, the folks who registered the domain names signed on with ICANN ( and thus, WIPO) to arbitrate.... now they are whining about being held to contract they themselves signed on for when they registered the domain names.... and appealing to idiots with the whole " Ron Paul is using the UN to come after us" bs

Ron Paul doesn't have a choice in the matter on who to use ( initially)... the domain name owners signed on with ICANN and that's that.

When the man peddles conspiracy theories and his supporters have degenerated to little cultists, yes, it doesn't sit too well with me.

you didn't have to expand... I already knew what your opinion was.

I'm not a Ron cultist, but i don't discount his "conspiracy theories" either.... beings that the status quo is a huge pile of ****, I don't think it should be verbotten to get outside of the little mainstream box that has been built by the GOP and Democrats... I do understand that lots of people are uncomfortable with the idea of leaving that lil box, but i'm not.

Yes, because being ignorant and saying dumb crap makes you look brilliant. It's kind of like how you treat current law. It's the law and your opinion and whatever you say is completely invalid. This is when you are talking about the civil rights law of 1964 of all things. I would love to see your argument towards the blacks in 1963. Your opinion is invalid because this is the law. Nationalists never were worth much I suppose.
