Wounded Warrior Refuses Donation From Church

The Wounded Warrior Project, citing a conflict with the fundraisers policies, refused what was potentially $50,000 in donations from the Liberty Baptist Church and Academy in Fort Pierce, Fla.
"We must decline the opportunity to be the beneficiary of your event due to our fundraising event criteria, which doesn’t allow community events to be religious in nature,” read an email from the WWP community events team. “Please note your registration fee will be refunded within the next 7-10 business days.”

This is friggin ridiculous. If I were laid up in a hospital and receiving treatment for losing both legs, for instance, I wouldn't care if the money came from a religious event. I would just be happy I'm receiving the treatment. Hopefully this church can find another charity that caters to a similar cause. Maybe The Fisher House or something like that. This is a sad display of political correctness IMO.

    Pretty stupid. Money is money.

Apparently they think money given from religious groups that was raised during religious events (how else do religious groups get money?) will be coated with some sort of conversion dust that will make everyone who touches it a Christian/Muslim/Mormon/Catholic/Buddhist/etc.

Maybe this is in their Constitution and they stick to their Constitution as a matter of principle.

Maybe there's something to be learned from this...

No doubt, the Fox news story makes the Wounded Warrior decision look bad. However, I think I'll withhold judgment until more details become available.

In other words you'll wait for the MSNBC version; we know.

So long as the money came with no strings they are stupid. If the church wanted to attach some strings I can see why but this is as lame as the Veterans Administration not allowing prayers at grave side services for soldiers at their cemetaries - I think someone put an end to that crap.

Like I said, I'll wait for all the facts to come in.

Would you accept money that was in violation of your charter?

Would you accept money from Westboro Baptist church?

Another one of those "The christians are being persecuted" tales - that ain't true.

The VA simply said that if the family of the deceased didn't want prayers, then no 'church group' was to force their way into that specific funeral.

Fox News could not have assessed it better! Thanks for sharing!
