Anonymous Threatens Massive WikiLeaks-Style Exposure, Announced On Hacked Gov Site

Re: Constrictive Hacking!

It isn't the toys.

Which makes all the difference in the world and covers up all sorts of errors in judgment.

It's the training. And the tradition. And the discipline. You know, order.

Well its clear I'm not talking about that.

If we gave the Navy to Mexico, it'd be on the bottom of the ocean by next year.

Well, not the bottom of the ocean...US ships are hard to sink. Combat ineffective I will grant you.

Re: Constrictive Hacking!

Life IS uncertainty. War is chaos masquerading as "fog" and "failure". The best laid plans of mice and men.

Again, you apparently have a faulty concept of "chaos."

"Chaos" means no chains of command, no coordination, no strategy, no patterns of any kind, including "units" firing on each other for no reason at all, no goals, no objectives, just pure melee in every possible direction -- and that's merely the optimistic description.

Re: Constrictive Hacking!

We won in Iraq, and largely due to the other side not playing by any rules.

If we won, which I don't support that claim, it was due to superior arms.

While we lost in Vietnam, the North Vietnamese gained almost nothing in relation to their cost, again in large part due to their not following any rules.

What was there to gain for them other than making the US leave? I think they got what they tried to get and did damn well considering who they were against and what they had at their disposal. Playing by the rules would have resulted in them getting killed like flies without doubt.

Re: Constrictive Hacking!

No toys can overcome it if it's chronic.

Well its clear I'm not talking about that.

No, it isn't. You're very clearly talking about competence.

Re: Constrictive Hacking!

So basically the FBI redefined the term. No real shocker there. In fact, everyone already knew that.
No, not everybody already knew that and thats why I posted it.

Re: Constrictive Hacking!

In part, but that is far from all. In modern warfare the goals, tactics and strategies go far beyond conquering territory.

What was there to gain for them other than making the US leave? I think they got what they tried to get and did damn well considering who they were against and what they had at their disposal.

They could have gotten us to leave simply by not fighting.

Re: Anonymous Threatens Massive WikiLeaks-Style Exposure, Announced On Hacked Gov Sit

This discussion of war is really irrelevant to this thread since Anonymous are not soldiers, nor are they fighting a war. They are simply criminals.

Re: Constrictive Hacking!

So when are we rounding up the politicians?
We're not going to round up anybody....except maybe a few hackers. If the hackers have a grievence they should exercise their constitutional right to petition the government just like everyone else has to, instead of using censorship, intimidation, and commiting robbery, blackmail and treason.

So basically we can't do anything to stop treason in our government but we can arrest people that fight against it. How wonderful.

This might surprise you but airing grieves with a government that is making people disappear doesn't do much.

People in government get busted all the time for doing bad things....

...it's the crooks in the financial sector that get off scot free.

You'll forgive me if I'm not impressed with the "exercise their constitutional rights" argument. They have been getting trampled on since before the ink that penned them, dried...

and as much as I hate to let my cynicism show, that list of offenses you've provided seems more of an items on the agenda that could be found at whitehouse.gov than anything else...

But you are impressed with the criminal actions of hackers. Anonymous are the tramplers because they think that our laws don't apply to them. Currently, they are trying to blackmail the US government as if it were playing a video game.

And how much change will result from stealing credit card numbers, interfering with a government serving it's people, and posting flashing gifs on a message board for epileptics?

Not joining in the witchhunt and finding the endless call on any group who doesn't agree with the government a terrorist a bore equates to me being impressed? Interesting leap.

and exactly how is Anonymous 'blackmailing' the government?

You wouldn't have to ask if you had the read the OP link and read the thread before posting. You don't seem to know or understand very much about who or what you're trying to defend.

Can you say that with certainty that they are not engaged in war? After all they are anonymous how do you really know what their motives are and who they are?

Re: Constrictive Hacking!

While I'm reading this thread, I can't help but think of this quote:

"One cannot possible be a terrorist if he stands by a just cause."

Guess we'll see where this goes.
And thats what every Al-Quada and suicide bomber has ever said.

Re: Constrictive Hacking!

You have an odd definition of "civilian" Here are some of the "non-civilian" groups Anonymous has targeted just since 2010:

Oregon Tea Party
Aiplex Software
Sony
Amazon
PayPal
Mastercard
Visa
PostFinance
Fine Gael
HBGary Federal
Westborough Baptist Church
Koch Industries
Bank Of America
Facebook
UMG
Warner Brothers Music
The Vatican
Symatec/Norton
Formula One

Actually you are the one with an odd definition of civilian. Civilians are individuals, not corporations.

Interesting, a liberal making an argument for corporations being people. :2razz:

If you are commiting criminal acts, you are a criminal. You don't fight wars from momies basement by stealing credit card numbers.

Civilians in that they are not governments nor soldiers. A bank or hospital is not a military target, it is a civilian target.

Re: Constrictive Hacking!

I find it extremely funny that people are bitching about the government not being transparent in every single aspect of it's operation (national security be damned, I guess) but then show slobbering hero worship for a group called "Annonymous".

Ok, fair enough. But does hacking a company website really "terrorize" the public? Is it really anywhere close to the level a car bomb terrorizes civilians in a marketplace? I really think Americans have watered-down the term.

Again what proof do you have that anonymous are losers in in their parents basements? Perhaps some but they are obviously somewhat organized. And they had heavy involvement with the occupy movement. But then I really have no idea either so they very well could just be idiotic trolls gone amok.

I am not arguing that they are terrorists. My point in fact is that they are common criminals working for their own profit.
