Actually I wish Limbaugh and others of his ilk like Hannity, Coulter, Buchanan, O'Reilly and Beck were on a special channel beamed into every TV set in America 24/7/365 in a six hour block which is on a continuos four cycle loop. All wacko all the time. It would help cure most of this country from that sort of ideological insanity.

It's not a matter of being welcomed or not welcomed. It's a matter of these people coming here throught the proper, legal path. Waiting their turn and doing things the right way. My family had to do that. My great-grandparents got through Ellis Island in 1900, but when my great-grandfather's brother and sister tried to come here with their families in 1908 they were turned away because the quota from their area of Germany was already full. He went to Argentina and she went to Canada before legally immigrating to the US in 1914.

last thing first-
Create a proper legal path and all is good. i can't find a quota law for Europeans entering this country till waaaay after 1908, what quota system are you talking about? Even an 'Ellis Island' approach with realistic quotas would be an improvement. these days many can work up to 10 years here while waiting for their citizenship, why not extend that program to other than Canadian comedians?

First thing- not much of a chance is taken when done from the condo. thinking anyone who is newly Fianced IS worried about return fire, and the lack of any history of exchanging fire tends to bear that out. Talk, as always, is cheap. No one is going to start a shoot 'em up.... :peace

I'm not 100% certain myself, but I have been told they were turned away from Ellis Island in October of 1908 because the "quota" from that area had already been filled. That's not a part of the family that we're really in touch with, so all I have to go on is family lore. In fact we didn't even know about the Argentina connection until about 10 years ago.

We have to have some way of determining who should be and who is entering the country. That's just common sense. Whether it's a quota system or something else. I'm also not fond of the idea of giving jobs that Americans could be doing to foreigners.

You might just be surprised at how many people I hear talking and prepping for a potential shoot-out with the police if/when these things start to go into effect. It's either that or suddenly "losing/having stolen" a whole bunch of firearms for most of us. We're most certainly not letting the Government take them.

As best as i can find NO quota was in effect for Northern European nations until much later in the century. The first Euros to be quota'd were EYE-talians in the mid 1920's. might want to check that family 'story' again.

Oh I believe any path to citizenship should be controlled in someway, the lack of a system now is bad, the keeping of 11 million people as shadow citizens is wrong. not so sure the jobs being given to foreigners are over here so much as over there- China and the like. Least ways the ones our workers would want to try a raise a family on.

The definition of human being is a question of biology. If an organism has a human genome it's a human. Not sure if you knew that, but now you do.

Any path to citizenship for anyone should be quite regimented thoroughly overseen. The lack of a system is bad but the wrong system might just be worse. You're right that the shadow citizens need to be dealt with.... via deportation. Not the high skilled jobs, but even the low ones. Those are jobs people could be doing in place of, or to supplement government assistance.

The pathway for illegal immigrants should be lined with bullets. Preferably well aimed and of high caliber. That would stop a large portion of the problem.
