Right Wingers ignorant of history and definition love to bring this up.

They always say "NATIONAL SOCIALIST... etc"

Yeah they were socialists... except they attempted to kill all the socialists and communists...

They're about as socialist as North Korea is Democratic (Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea)

Perhaps the greatest tragedy since 9/11 would be Obama's so called surge in Afghanistan with no real purpose and without the number of troops the commanders in the field said they needed, and without virtually any support from US allies.
Since we're not discussing the popularity of programs, it is a red herring.

I thought you were - you moved the discussion to the invasion of Iraq, which as I recall was quite popular with the American congress, the President, and a majority of the American people, yet you referred to it as a tragedy. I don't recall anyone ever claiming that 9/11 or Benghazi were popular with the American people, yet tragic.

No, I did not "move" the discussion to the Iraq invasion, and even if I did, I made no reference to its' popularity.

It's obvious that the red herring you offered was a distraction from Pauls ignorant remark which you cannot defend

Sometimes you're left with no choice - do you think that America should have left Afghanistan, the Taliban and Al Quida alone to celebrate after the attacks on your country on 9/11? It's why countries like Canada readily did all we could to assist in going into Afghanistan to seek retribution and justice. I consider that honorable, not a tragedy.

I think we should have left Iraq alone. We should have gone in to Afganistan and, if necessary, Pakistan, with a multi national force and the mission of capturing or killing Bin Laden and his cohorts, then left and gone home. We should never have tried to initiate a nation building project in either of those two countries.

Mine was definitely a minority opinion back when the invasions were taking place, but it seems that more and more people are agreeing with it all the time.

Wait, you mean North Korea isn't democratic? I'm shocked. It's right in the name after all...Next you're going to tell me that the German Democratic Republic was Communist....

I still think nation building was necessary in Afghanistan. Just leaving would have left nothing to prevent the Taliban from taking power again and giving refuge to some other terrorist group.

But I don't know if it's possible there. The Soviets gave up after 10 years, we're still trying after 11.
