Rand Paul is a buffoon.
Rand Paul is a buffoon.
"Groups with guitars are on the way out, Mr. Epstein"
Dick Rowe, A & R man
“I have a couple responses to that,” [Paul's tirade blaming Obama for the fact that his toilets don't work" replied Hogan [Kathleen Hogan, the deputy assistant secretary for energy efficiency at the Department of Energy] once Paul had concluded his rant. “One, I think the appliance standards program is a great partnership between the Congress and the administration over many years. So much of what we are implementing had its genesis in bipartisan bills that we put forth at a number of different points over the history of this country for the last 30 to 40 years.”
“But you restrict our choices, right?” asked Paul.
“I really do not believe the appliance standards end up restricting personal choice,” Hogan said.
“I can’t buy the old light bulbs. That restricts my choice on buying.”
“My view is what you want is lighting, right?” Hogan said.
“I can’t buy a toilet that works,” he replied.
“I can help you find a toilet that works,” she offered.
Paul sounds like a student body president from a prep school not a Senator

I have been annoyed by the low flow useless toilet since it was forced on the people.
Her rebuttal on the light bulb argument was just stupid. He doesn't just want lighting, he wants the lighting he desires. This isn't that hard to understand.
And clearly the entire point of the examples he listed are to restrict choice. Let's not be stupid.

We're making fun of his ignorance, and yours. You must get your factoids from the same rightwing websites Paul does.
The Straight Dope: Do low-flush toilets actually save water?
Frankly, I wonder why anyone would want to vote for someone like Rand Paul. This guy is something "special" (as in "special ed!"). On the one hand, he claims that government makes rules that hamper his consumer choices within the free market system, yet on the other hand he won't do his own due diligence to find a functional household item/appliance at a reasonable price from within the very free market system he claims to love. I mean, c'mon, folks...how difficult can it be to drive down to the nearest Lowe's, Home Depot, Sears or some mom and pop hardware store and purchase the toilet you like that you can install yourself?
Good grieve... Rand Paul is certainly a piece of .... work. (Ha, Ha! You thought I was gonna say something else, didn't you? It does make one wonder, though...are Rand Paul's poops that big he needs some specially made toilet to flush them? )
