Liberal tax leaves bitter taste in some smoothie drinkers' mouths

That's possible. I think that will backfire on him as well as I suspect some of his conservative customer base wouldn't appreciate his actions either.

Agreed, though it can, and does, go both ways. Could also cement in a core customer base that is loyal not just because of product but also because of political identity. These types of customer cores become cheerleaders for your business and will go to great lengths to ensure your business thrives. It's done all the time on both the liberal and conservative sides of the fence. The trick is in really knowing your customer base.

Another way too look at this is that the Liberals pay the extra to help the economy, The Republicans(I don't like the word conservative because there are none) don't pay the extra because they just don't care about helping the economy.

True. When Oreo revealed its rainbow colored Oreo campaign in support of same-sex marriage that was clearly aimed at a more liberal base. I just consider campaigns like that more substantive than "you're a [insert political lean], you suck" sort of campaign, but I guess he'll find out how it goes.
