Personally...I think they ought to provide a kiosk where you can go with the person purchasing the weapon and have them run the check. It only takes a few minutes. That or be able to call a local PD. When I have sold guns (not a regular occurrence) I always arrange to meet at the county sheriffs office to make the transaction. I know people there...and I figure if the person is willing to go into a lobby at the sheriffs office to make the transaction he or she is probably aces.
BTW...the NRA response to 'illegal' sales is the same as mine. If you find people doing something illegal ARREST them and prosecute to the fullest extent. There is no need or requirement for any new laws...just act on the ones already in place.
