Biden: W.H. readies 19 executive actions on guns

Joe Biden on guns: White House readies 19 executive actions - POLITICO.com

Later this week, Obama will formally announce his proposals to reduce gun violence, which are expected to include renewal of the assault weapons ban, universal background checks and prohibition of high-capacity magazine clips. But Biden, who has been leading Obama’s task force on the response, spent two hours briefing a small group of sympathetic House Democrats on the road ahead in the latest White House outreach to invested groups.

Hmm.....perhaps some regulation through CDC. I recall being called paranoid about that during the health care debate.

Anyway, 19 executive orders......I see trouble on the horizon.

    If this is 'all':

“It was all focusing on enforcing existing law, administering things like improving the background database, things like that that do not involve a change in the law but enforcing and making sure that the present law is administered as well as possible,” said Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.).

It would sure seem to parallel what LaPierre said on Meet the Press, essentially enforcing the laws we already have. But I also saw the other 'insinuations' mentioned in the article. Harry has already conceeded that the AWB is likely to fail in the Senate...I don't see a high cap magazine being very enforcable...
"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure" - 2006 Senator Obama...leadership failure indeed!

Perhaps a slight tweak to PPACA is in order, that law was passed before it was even written, meaning that the executive alone can "fill in the implementation details" as it evolves into UHC. I see a possible addition of gun ownership as a "health risk factor" that could become an exchange premium cost "risk factor" along with age and smoking. Great way to implement a back door "gun tax". Hmm...

One of the rumors I have heard (from what I consider to be a reliable and knowledgeable source) is a fee for NICS checks and, possibly, a limit on how many NICS checks an FFL can conduct in a given period of time.

CAP has a number of suggestions on their site (Preventing Gun Violence in Our Nation | Center for American Progress) and it would be reasonable to assume that many of these suggestions will be included in the administration plan.

There is no issue of any kind whatsoever where Democrats to not look at it from a question of how can we use this anyway possible to take more money away from working people for the government.

Step one is to limit ALL gun (ammo?) sales to going ONLY through FFL dealers, by saying that is "the only way" to assure sales to felons and the criminally insane can be "controlled", closing the "gun show" or private sale "loophole". Step two is to impose a "user fee" for using a FFL dealer to "certify the private transfer/sale"; of course this can be "split" between the FFL dealer (for his paperwork/NICS background check time) and the federal gov't (for providing the NICS system).

Awesome. As soon as he signs the first one, he loses the momentum to go forward with changing any laws.

CA does this on firearms right now. The fee is $35, and FFLs are required to do it or they lose a CA permit needed and for their wonderful effort they get to keep a whole $10 while the state steals $25.
