One perp was shot 3 times. I don't think he missed. All the shots went where they were supposed to go. Man that center fire .22 is nasty when it hits flesh.

Having happened to me decades ago I will tell you I am certain the young man did not stand in one spot and contemplate which weapon to pull and fire.

I never said he did contemplate which weapon to pull and fire. All I'm saying is that there have been situations where multiple intruders have invaded a house and the people with a firearm defended themselves successfully. An AR-15 is not NEEDED.

However, again, I'll state that I am not for ANY ban of assault weapons. I think the more armed people are, the better.

How odd (and not a little bit laughable) that you choose to question the type of weapon he used. What type is irrelevant. Its what they HAD, and guess what...that bitch worked to perfection. All this story does is prove that the AR15 DOES INDEED make a FINE home defense weapon.

Actually it does matter since some in this thread are saying ONLY the AR-15 type would have saved them. I'm not saying that the AR-15 doesn't make a fine weapon, but that's not to say any other fire arm would have worked as well if they didn't have an AR-15.

The laughable part is people touting that ONLY the AR-15 type of weapon could have saved them. Look, if you don't want to question anything, that's fine, feel free to ignore my posts. However, in the spirit of discussion, I will question whether the AR-15 is needed since others are claiming that ONLY the AR-15 type of weapon could have saved them.

Nah...he could have used a tripod mounted 20 mil belt feed 1200 round Gatling gun located at the top of the stairs. But...he didnt. He DID use an AR15. That was the weapon his family chose and it worked as advertised.

BTW...when SWAT and police bust into homes to clear them looking for armed assailants and bad guys, what type of weapon do you see them using? Innit funny...same kind.

You look just plain goofy QUESTIONING it in the first place (I know...they convinced you an AR15 is an eeeeeeevil gun). Could they have used a crossbow? Perhaps. Laid out a field of 22LR fire? Sure. Claymores. Why not.

The fact remians that
A-they used what they had.
B-He used it quite well
C-the weapon did precisely what it was supposed to and
D-The weapon you are intent on questioning for home defense used against would be perpetrators is the same weapon police special forces use for the EXACT same purpose.

Your first statement here was trying to point out that other firearms could've been used, which every single person here understands, because that's insanely obvious. From an outside view, the only reason you could've had for saying that is you think he shouldn't have had the AR-15 because a revolver or whatever would've done the same. If that's not what you meant, you did a poor job of expressing it.

Um not everyone since there are some in this thread arguing that ONLY an AR-15 type could have saved them. I argued that the AR-15 wasn't needed and a lesser fire arm could be used. That doesn't mean I think the AR-15 should be banned and I have said several times in this thread that I don't think it should be banned.
