Looks like the state needs to tighten their controls.

Because even with extended duration unemployment insurance many have used it all up, which drops their family into (or farther into) the guidelines for SNAP and other forms of government assistance.

Still those stats are just from the Federal level and does not count State Assisted Programs. So then there is Aid from the State as well as the Fed and fraud in both systems.

It's quite amusing how Right berfore Jesse Jackson Jr got all caught up into the mess he is in. Was in the House Calling for a Change in Constitutional Amendments. So That Like Obamacare.....That Food and Housing Should be a Right For everyone.

Recently I heard someone was trying to intro Legislation to try and Ban Certain businesses from having the ATM's in them. But I can't remember if it was NY or some other state.

At one time (don't know about now) we banned ATM's from casinos. Of course, it was a short trip to the lobby to access one, but still ...

Most businesses here, excluding 24/7 stores (like QT and 7-11) and supermarkets, don't have ATMs.

    Ed:
There's fraud in any system. The question is, how much money are you willing to spend to save how much money? As the percent of fraud goes down, the cost to prevent it goes up exponentially. For example, $100m in prevention might save you $150 but $200 might only save you $175m. You reach a point of diminishing returns when you try to enforce laws of any kind.

Yeah around me they are everywhere. Gas stations/Mini-marts too. There should be no reason for them to have them In Porno shops and or Bars/lounges. That's just those Businesses preying on those who don't have much as is. Not that I am against some guy wanting to drink and look at some goil.

IMO that is a waste of money anyways. For anyone. I like that idea with Casinos but I don't know how that would Work in Vegas, Atlantic City etc etc.

Re: Welfare Recipients Take out Cash at Strip Clubs, Liquor Stores and X-rated Shops.

This debate reminds me of the failed drug testing of TANF recipients in Florida. It cost them almost $50K in difference, saved no money, and didn't lighten their caseload an iota. If you look into every pack of cigarettes or every night out at the movies or you name it, spent by people while on TANF it would be throwing money diown the drain just to demonize the poor. According to Floridas results its the minority of welfare recipients on drugs, 2.6%.
If a study were done on wasteful TANF spending I'm sure it would yield the same results. Welfare recipients don't stand in 3 hour lines to check into appointments, spend another 3 hours waiting to see a worker, jump through the hoops of paperwork and job searches and appointments, to buy $200-500 worth of vooze, pot, and sex. And even if they engage in these activities, their children don't. They're innocent and still deserve to be cared for. What good could come from closer nonitoring when the end result is either spend more than is saved on a false pretense or commit a few more thousand kids to the foster care system, spending more money that way? I've sold foodstamps
before. Know why? To keep my gas from being shut off midwinter. Ive also sold them to buy clothes from Goodwill for my kids and to put gas in my car for a week so I could make it to work. Ive seen people sell foodstamps to throw birthday parties and send their kids on field trips... Selling foodstamps isnt always in the pursuit of drugs or alcohol or other forms of debautery. When we received TANF we would withdraw all if it at an ATM and go pay our rent which we had to do through Wells Fargo. Alot of apartments dont allow card payments. They require money orders, cash, or even bank deposits.

If you all want the poor of government roles so badly start petitioning big corporations to pay better wages, offer benefits, hire fulltime, and train their employees instead of expecting people who make $20,00 a year

Post continued... I couldnt edit it on my smartphone.

To stop expecting people making $20,000 a year to pay for expensive training or even college. I have been turned down from a job because I didn't have $50 to get a food handlers card before I was employed! How are you expecting the financially destitute to fix a problem they didn't create? If mom and dad didnt go to college and they dont have money for college or barely enough for bills then the likliehood of JR. getting through college are alot slimmer than the kids of one or two college graduates who can consequently help pay for a better future. Has anyone here been to an inner city high school? It teaches craptastic curriculum and puts one at a disadvantage on their college applications. The whole system is designed to make the poor repeat their cycle of poverty.
