You're right. Let's have one polling place per state, and if people don't feel like waiting then that's on them.

As silly as your strawman is, would you wait? I would. Is your vote not worth a little inconvenience?

Who most gains by requiring IDs in Florida is Democrats, not Republicans.

IDs are VERY difficult to get in Florida. Many D.L. offices only issued Drivers Licenses and refuse to issue an ID at all. They will not issue IDs in our city at the DL office. Only Drivers Licenses. So if a person doesn't drive, a person can't vote. To get an ID is quite difficult for those who do, as it trying to get a Florida drivers license if you have an out of state license.

Who most do not have drivers licenses and IDs are elderly. The elderly leaned towards Romney by a 20% margin. Thus, the requirement for IDs or DLs to vote favors Democrats in Florida.

What should be required to vote is an original voter registration card. Upon voting, it should be stamped meaning it can only be used once per election. If a person claimed to have lost their voter registration card, then and only then should an ID be required.

It's not a strawman. A strawman would be if I said this was about race or keeping down the little guy. My comparison is right in line with your logic -- if you can't wait long enough to vote that's on you, so why bother having more than one polling place?

At any rate, I will always be happy to wait in line to vote provided that the wait doesn't force me to choose between voting and my personal obligations.

how would they even come to an estimate on such a number? Also, while I will keep an open mind, it does seem weird that this study was conducted by an industrial engineer. Was his research published in a journal, or anything?

Dan, I'm not sure how the story originating in the Orlando Sentinal addresses the issues I raised above.

Your message strongly suggests that you do not vote. All states have early voting. Why don't you know that?

I read alot of excuses in here for Rick Scott and unfortunately for him florida voters dont see it the same way and that includes more republicans than not.
He with intent to block people from voting in areas he and the gop believed would swing obama is not a secret anymore...there have already been republican florida politicians scared to death they are going to lose their job next election that have admitted to it.
So whether or not theres other ways to vote as some portend its a "RIGHT" its the main "RIGHT" of americans to post their vote "IN" the ballot box on election day unencumbered by political crooks.
You heard it here...Rick Scott will be a one termer unless they put up a real far left nutter against him.

That was a "take from that what you will" kind of thing. According to the Sentinel, the research was conducted by someone who has been following this kind of election irregularity since the 2000 elections, and this time around they used data gathered by the Sentinel -- whatever the hell that means (I'm pretty sure it means it wasn't published in a journal).
