seems to me PA was giving out free ID's but it was still a poll tax in the land of liberal logic......but I'd be willing to bet if you had to show ID to get your welfare every month, people would suddenly find a way to get them.

Your stale rhetoric aside, if it really is free to get an ID needed to vote, it's not a poll tax.
I'm already gearing up for Finger Vote 2014.

Just for reference, means my post was a giant steaming pile of sarcasm.

Okay. You live there and you're telling me that there are many different efforts to get out the vote, I can't really argue with you on that front.

This article struck a chord with me because America in general has serious problems with consistency and outreach when it comes to the vote. Personally I have a really hard time chalking up a walk-off of voters that is more than half the margin by which the President won the state to stupidity.

The fact is, a lot of Americans are working crap jobs for asshole bosses and making **** wages, living paycheck to paycheck. A long line is going to discourage them from voting.

Are there other options? Of course. Do we do a good job of making sure people are aware of them and encouraging them to do so? I'd say this is proof that we don't.

It never ceases to amaze me that, despite our largesse, technology and know-how, we continue to struggle when it comes time to cast a ballot or take a census.
Do you have any proof that those that decided not to wait in lines fall into the categories you stated here?

    "How to Early Vote

Early voting begins 10 days before an election and ends on the 3rd day before any election in which there is a state or federal office race. Early voting may be held for a maximum of 12 hours, but no less than 6 hours, a day."
Sounds top me like it has more to do with lazyness than stupidity.

    People want immediate gratification.

Waiting in line is hard and they just don't want to do it.

I bet those same people would wait in line all night for the newest movie to open at midnight.

Enough Americans do fall into the description I laid out that it's a reasonable assumption that many of those who couldn't want do.

But it costs money for gas to drive there to get the ID and the time to stand inline.

That was the argument against the free IDs

I actually saw a post where it said the government should go around to everybodys house to offer the free ID, otherwise it was a poll tax.

Amazing. You ask me for proof of my characterization, then go on to make your own without any proof.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, reasonable measures can be taken to reduce the inconvenience without going to that extreme.
