As far as I know, the banks and corporations are following our laws. OWS, when they destroy public property, disrupt and prevent ordinary citizens from going about their personal business, are not following our laws.

That makes them more of a target for the attention of our Law Enforcement...especially the FBI. And rightly so.

Do you condone unlawful, destructive and disruptive protests? Would you condone murder in the name of protest?

Just how far do you think OWS should have gone before the FBI was justified in watching them?

I like that statement and it has some truth. On the other hand, the banks crooked operations created the crisis and the OWS stated goals were to bring attention to that. Many scumbags, dopers, miscreants, vagrants, etc. joined the groups to get a free ride, to the detriment of the groups, I might add, and that is not being denied. The groups did not have single point leadership because they would have been arrested, but their technique worked and frustrated the investigating agencies. That would be the FBI. I still think the bankers should be prosecuted foir their illegalities and we are still trying to shift the blame and the discussion to OWS. That is a success story for the bankers and a "bend over, no Ky" to the 99%.

What OWS failed to grasp is that a bank is not a charity; its a business. Individual people chose to live beyond their means and they chose to be morons and sign documents without reading them. What Goldman Sachs did should be criminal but when individual people walk into a bank and ASK for a loan they can't possibly afford; they deserve whatever they get. Its not the bank's job to hand hold you through fundamental money management or babysit your balance sheet.

Don't forget the government being complicit in this mess too. From repealing certain regulations to encouraging sub prime loans, they basically asked the banks to give people without the means a loan. So there is a trifecta of blame. Government for being irresponsible with regulations, banks for being irresponsible with their own loan practices, and people for not paying their bills. But hey, lets just blame banks.

I agree with the trifecta of blame analogy. Now one studies the money flows and one party (homeowner) gets stuck with a debt, one gets political capital (gov't) and one gets paid millions of dollars and lots of perks, stock options and bonuses. Ya gets more monies and you gets more blame. Ergo the bankers get the most blame because they made the most, by far, profit.

Public Intimidation, Arson, assaults, all in an effort to coerce people politically is terrorism. OCW meets all of the above criteria. The Big Lie propagated these days is that the Nazis were "Right Wing". They were not, in the sense of what is considered "right wing" in modern day American Politics anyways. The truth of the matter is the Nazis were on the right, but on the spectrum of the extreme left wing. They were Collectivists/Socialists but also Nationalists. Right Wing Extreme Leftists is the appropriate characterization.

Has nothing to do with American Conservatism. Just typical smears by ignorant radical left wingers. The truth is most of the political violence in the US is perpetrated by left wing Collectivist Groups. The Weathermen. ELF. OWS. All of them are radical left wing groups. All Collectivist movements are. Mob movements in general operate with the "crowd mentality" of morals. When people are motivated by the crowd, by the mob, their morals and behaviors change. It's all psychological. That's what makes the left so dangerous. Their ideology is grounded in infantile emotional reasoning. Not rationality and critical thinking.

No, the banks were the only ones who were supposed to be making a profit. Government is not in the business of profit, and you aren't supposed to make a profit paying your mortgage on time. They were doing what they were supposed to do, and the government let them run wild with it. The fact that people narrow in on the banks because they made money is disingenuous. That's their function. Do they deserve their criticism for payouts to execs who failed? Absolutely. But nothing happens in isolation. It took all 3 failing in their responsibilities to create the perfect storm. If even one of them holds up to their obligation, things would not have spiraled out of control. The fact that OWS only blamed banks shows what a ill informed crap protest that it was. Just like most protests in this country.

That's their function. Do they deserve their criticism for payouts to execs who failed? Absolutely. But nothing happens in isolation. It took all 3 failing in their responsibilities to create the perfect storm. If even one of them holds up to their obligation, things would not have spiraled out of control. The fact that OWS only blamed banks shows what a ill informed crap protest that it was. Just like most protests in this country.

The banks had inside knowledge of bad quality mortgages and organized them in "tranches" to peddle to retirement accounts, etc. Now those mortgages are in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac accounts and we be holdin' da' bag. These are the same mortgages that, if the banks had to carry them on their books at "mark to market", would cause severe contraction of banking. I know that the individuals that initiated the mortgages should have paid. That's a no-brainer. Regulators didn't regulate properly. The bankers multiplied their criminal liability and put the screws to the taxpayers. That's the problem, as I see it. The bankers knew which mortgages were bad because that is their business.

Yes it was one small cell group blah blah blah but they did confess and admitted that their intent was to cause a Civil War. That on top of the fact that OWS original plan was to disrupt the US economy by shutting Wall Street plus their intentions of disrupting west coast docks and cause economic results. Or the fact that it is the intention of OWS as a collective to topple the US economy as an attack on capitalism.

But let me guess now you will deny that OWS wanted to do any of those things right? So what OWS is just all happy about Capitalism and would never do anything against it right?
I guess you missed the point of those community libraries, those General Assemblies and their intention of starting a new government by the people and for the people? What exactly was the point of OWS? Was it to continue with the US government intact and just arrest bankers?

Not true as well. You do know there are lists of this stuff on the internet right?

Fact is the Weathermen have not been around the last 30 years and the ELF so called attacks have never killed or hurt anyone and were only put on the "terror" list after decades of right wing pressure to do so... and it was done by a right wing President and a right wing congress.. go figure!

If you look at the lists that have been compiled on terror attacks, in the last 20 years by far the most have been from right wing persons/groups or Islamist (also right wing). Have there been a few left wing nutters .. yes but few and far inbetween to say the least.

Bolded disarms your credibility. If you cant say things that are remotely credible to arrive at your conclusion, your conclusion has some flaws.

That list also has more than a few flaws, such as thwarted attacks being unaffiliated.
