Cats don't vote.

Anyway, cats are adorable! :D

This story is dismissed on grounds of cuteness overload of the defendant.

Locking them up in cages seems not cute, but cruel. These are free roaming cats. Caging them is just about as joyful for them as ending up at the pound. They don't know "its for their own safety", they just know they'v been captured and separated from other cats they've bonded with.

This project will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, negligible to the overall, waste and fraud picture, but exmplying of pointless spending.

SAVE THE HEMINGWAY CATS

The source article said nothing about them being in cages, but rather, lounging around the hemingway house.

If they are in cages, and I missed it, FREE THE CATS.

If they are just living comfortably on taxpayer money, then let them! Because cats are our masters :p. Well, not really, but the felines are the gods of the internet. see

Just paws long enought to read this sentence and it will be purrfectly clear:
The museum said the USDA sought to make it cage the felines in individual shelters at night, build a higher fence, erect an electrical wire atop the home's brick wall or hire a night watchman to monitor the cats so they couldn't escape, court documents say.

Nice play on words :D.

And yeah, you were right. I didn't spot that phrase, or didn't give it the same meaning. Well then, free the cats! :D

Besides the primary goal of freeing the cats, I'm surprised that I'm the only one bothered by the USG intrusion and waste of money. I've worked in the shelter field enough to tell you that the cages are very expensive and we'll have the cost of the bureaucrats following up on this and that.

There are 2 groups on here. One says "cut spending" and the other says "we must spend more to insure our children have diapers" but even then, which side says "lets waste money on moronic projects"? So, are we arguing about ONLY Medicare and Social Security (and Big Bird if you're a Romney fan) and not at all about the billions wasted on sheer nonsense?

In this lasst, depressing election we had, I remember reacting when Romney declared his intent to defund PBS as an EXAMPLE of waste. I thought it was a dumb statement since there are other, less loved forms of waste. Here is one of them. Am I the only person pissed off about this? Why do "spending cutters" ONLY care about safety net spending when there are so many other blatant wastes in process? We need to raise taxes to support harassing Hemigway's polydactyl cats? If anything, they should be studied (there are theories that polydactlys' are higher IQ than average in cats). Instead, all we want to do is jail them.

I can see that waste is not a popular topic. Instead, lets put all our efforts into arbitrary "feel good" gun control.

I really wonder about America. Immaturity and self-destructiveness and cruelty instead of forward motion.

Let us ask the question of why this is happening. I am not sure but I would imagine the property was given to the state by hemmingway on the condition they maintain it and probably that they take care of the cats. I don't actually know why they are there, but i know some other rich people donate their property to become museums and tourist attractions under certain conditions. None of this is mentioned in the article. If it is the case the state got a benefit it should either take care of or dump.

My other question is why don't they just fix the felines. Or actually breed the cats properly for some profit to take care of the other cats. Seriously, earnest hemmingway's cat's offspring has got to be worth something to the fanboys. Or like I said take the easy route fix the felines, and then in a decade or two you don't have a cat problem anymore. Or give some of them away. Or you could release some hungry dogs and make a dark comedy video? A catapult maybe?
