Democrats urge delay for ‘job-killing’ Obamacare tax

    Democrats urge delay for

Sixteen Democratic senators who voted for the Affordable Care Act are asking that one of its fundraising mechanisms, a 2.3 percent tax on medical devices scheduled to take effect January 1, be delayed. Echoing arguments made by Republicans against Obamacare, the Democratic senators say the levy will cost jobs — in a statement Monday, Sen. Al Franken called it a “job-killing tax” — and also impair American competitiveness in the medical device field.
Democrats wanting to repeal a tax because its a "job-killing tax"? I was under the impression that businesses don't pay enough tax. Truly Bizarro D.C.

At this point, this point being a 2013 where the executive and legislative branch did not change despite all reason, I'd say let it ride - let it kill jobs, let it hurt industry.

If they regret voting for the damn thing without studying it or reading it, too bad. They're not going to vote to repeal the damage they did with this stupid, unconstitutional bill, so don't let them delay or mitigate the damage, let it ride and let the American people see the consequences of their admitted negligence.

And I'm sure now the issue of the ACA-related tax increases will be given credence. Ironic that it takes the people who voted for those increases in the first place to bring legitimate attention to the fact that they're not likely to benefit economic growth in our slow recovery.

I seem to mention plenty of people mentioning these ACA issues when it was up for vote, after it was passed, during the SCOTUS case, and during the 2012 election...but NOW it's serious? Whatever.

I hope it is repealed. The tax may help fund government involvement in ACA, but it won't lower healthcare costs in the slightest.

Surprise, they voted for this PPACA mess, and now (even before it takes effect) wish to remove/alter the revenue that was included to pretend to actually pay for this huge new entitlement pig. What "alternate" sources of revenue do these demorats now propose? None, I would suspect, they like to spend but hate to tax (pay for) that spending. Yes they can!

If I recall correctly, Franken is the Senator for one of those medical device places that announced layoffs after the election.
