Egypt Uprising:US President Barack Obama calls Mohamed Morsi and expresses concerns

Well well well, obama has supposedly broken his long silence on the violent suppression of Egyptian protesters. I say supposedly because how do we know for sure. Obama has made no public statements like he did during the Mubarak riots and we have only official reports from the White House that he made this call. They even put a pic of him on the phone but if you look at the pic does it look like a serious conversation about people being shot down in the streets and women being sexually attacked or does it look like he's talking basketball? This pic may be to small to tell but if you go to the site I am posting you will see it looks like he's yucking it up with someone. If it is indeed Egypt's new dictator he seems to be saying keep up the good work buddy not STOP IT!

"The US president welcomed President Mohamed Morsiís call for a dialogue with the opposition and urged opposition leaders to join in this dialogue without
    preconditions."

Maybe he's asking Morsi's advice on how to handle political protestors.

Good point, Sawyer. How do we even know Obama is on the phone with Mursi in this photo, hmmm? Judging by the tilt of his eyebrow, it appears that he's actually speaking with Ahmadinejad and giving him our nuk-yoo-lar secrets. Damn you, you Kenyan Muslim Socialist!

You have to admit, the photo does not look like a man saying, will you freakin stop killing people and sending rape squads out after women protesters?

Because it's not a photo of Obama talking to Mursi - it's a random photo of Obama on the phone that they added to complement the piece. Or do you think a photographer from the National Turk is allowed to be present in the oval office when the President is making important confidential phone calls to other world leaders?

That being said, I'm sure the phone call to Mursi was quite civil and respectful. I'm sure obama didn't tell Mursi to "freakin stop killing people" and "sending rape squads". Because Mursi isn't doing either. The violence has been between civilians. And, actually, most of those who have been killed in the recent clashes have been Mursi supporters, not opponents.

As far as the rape squad allegations, I think that's just hyperbole from the opposition. I'm not trying to paint the Muslim Brotherhood in a kind light. I don't like the Muslim Brotherhood. But they are actually very moderate compared to many radical Islamist groups. Given what we know transpired during the Arab Spring, it's certainly possible that there have been rapes in the recent clashes. But it's highly unlikely the Muslim Brotherhood has some sort of policy of using "rape squads".

.....interesting how for 25 years NOBODY from any US administration rang up the fascist Dictator Mubarak and EXPRESSED CONCERNS

Instead the US gave billions of dollars in aid (almost all military aid) to the Mubarak regime, that continued its oppression of its domestic population and conveniently stood firm with Israel against the Palestinians

    Now Obama is CONCERNED?

    lol

Suggesting or believing something is being covered up, like the idea that he didn't make any phone call, without any evidence is a conspiracy theory.
