The portfolio of embattled United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice includes investments of hundreds of thousands of dollars in several energy companies known for doing business with Iran, according to financial disclosure forms.Rice, a possible nominee to replace Secretary of State Hillary Clinton when she steps down, has come under criticism for promulgating erroneous information about the September 11, 2012, attacks in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans.

Rice has the highest net worth of executive branch members, with a fortune estimated between $24 to $44 million, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. A Free Beacon analysis of Rice’s portfolio shows thousands of dollars invested in at least three separate companies cited by lawmakers on Capitol Hill for doing business in Iran’s oil and gas sector.

Is this the smartest decision Obama could make to replace Hillary? Or is he just puffing his chest out to stick it to Repubs with Rice?

Where did she get all that money? She's pretty much been a liberal university/government beneficiary her whole life. Now she's got 44 million? Let's hear about that, who is she getting money from?

Good question....The only job outside the DC bubble that I can find for her is this...

Rice was managing director and principal at Intellibridge from 2001 to 2002.[29][30]

Either that was one hell of a salary, or she is just another Mercedes Marxist.

I foresee Susie getting a real good view of the underside of a bus.

Hahahaha they literally cannot fathom that Liberals sometimes earn a lot of money too.

Why do you care? I see you are a conservative and i assume supported mittens who loved doing business in Iran and china. So you love people who do business with iran and should be cuddling up to this woman because you love those Iranians. We all know what you really think.

it tends to come from government positions rather than actually earning it

That logical break is so large, it should be registered with the UN.

From The Washington Post:

Inheritances from Cameron’s and Rice’s families, as well as her own investments, are chiefly responsible for her $20 million-plus net worth...

Susan Rice: Not your typical diplomat - The Washington Post

Bear in mind that her Canadian investments experienced a sort of double appreciation: a rise in stock prices which was amplified by a dramatic long-term rise in the Canadian Dollar.

Ah, good to know....So, she is one of the people that the liberals just love to say that her money is not hers....She didn't earn it, she did nothing to make it, so in liberals minds she should give it to the government.....

My suspicion is that you really don't know what you think you know, other than your purpose to ad hom attack, and purposely try and distort and lie.

You sound like a reasonably intelligent person Tere, why you spend so much time, and effort to structure your postings in the most abrasive, inflammatory language you can think of, instead of looking for ways to participate is beyond me...But do me a favor, unless you can respond in an intelligent fashion, I would appreciate it if you just didn't respond in my posts at all....Your over the top name calling, and dishonest flame baiting is not productive at all, and non responsive.

Good day.

Is an inheritance earning now? Or does that rule only apply to conservatives that inherit money from family?

I am sick of all these well connected politicians becoming filthy rich. Our entire government has become a corrupt money machine that guarantees you become a millionaire once you get inside. Every political job should come with term limits, these professional politicians and their appointees are destroying this country.

Oh, off-shore accounts.

Probably has her Iranian stocks in a Swiss Bank.

Given what's disclosed about her investment portfolio, it appears that she made significant investments in energy, including the Canadian energy sector. The Canadian energy sector with the oil sands is a high growth sector, especially in the context of global growth in demand for energy. So, I don't think it would be fair for anyone to argue that she "did nothing" to make the money. She had the foresight to invest in an area of growth and deserves credit for the returns she has been able to realize.

In general, political arguments that investment income isn't really earned income detracts from the larger economic picture. Through one's investments, one is assuming risks and making capital available to firms (directly or indirectly). Capital has an impact on long-term macroeconomic performance. A common argument is that most stock trading is secondary not primary, hence capital doesn't flow to the firms whose securities are being traded. That misses the point that if there were no secondary markets, that kind of exit barrier to capital would lead to the development of an entry barrier to capital when it came to the primary issue of securities. Reduced opportunities to convert securities to cash would translate into reduced capital flows to firms.

And yet, many many on the right and left STILL vote for their respective "well connected politicians". I wouldn't have a problem with term limits for congress and other political perches that politicians love to take bribes...err take "advice" from lobbyists from.

Yes, I know that's what you believe. That was my point, thanks.

So tell us how she "earned" it.

How about you tell us how she didn't? Innocent until proven guilty, after all. See, I don't go ahead and assume wealthy conservatives got that way by shady means unless some sort of evidence is presented to give me that idea.

Why are conservatives so envious of the rich? If you work hard, maybe Rice will hire you.

Envy is an ugly emotion. Maybe if you work hard we rich liberals will hire you.

If she can do some more things to get Obama impeached, It would be better if she stuck around.

The republicans are making the Benghazi "gate" about Susan Rice now that the election if over with. They want John Kerry to be the next Sec. of State so it will open up a Senate seat in Massachusetts where they will nominate Scott Brown to run.
It's so sad they are using this tragedy to play politics. I have lost all respect for the Republican Party.

Yep, it's pure disingenuous politics. That's all conservatives have. Not a thought or value in their anti-Big-Gummit heads.
