Bobby Jindal: GOP Should 'Stop Being The Stupid Party'

THIS is what hurts your party!

People who ignore how deregulation (or the lack of regulatory oversight) caused the financial meltdown in the first place...

People who think that everyone who are on entitlement programs are there because they're shiftless and lazy...

People who think that the only viewpoint that matters is their own...

YOU represent the very people within the Republican Party Gov. Jindal is talking about.

I was really surprised to learn it is a common republican attitude, and even more surprised to hear it coming from Bill O'Reily. I thought he was smarter than that. Idk anymore.

Your right, to give you some first hand perspective...I was a republican over 40 yrs, voted strictly republican for most of it...for most of that time I was oblivious to the real agenda of the republican party. I bought it all just like most of the conservative leaners on here.
What you have to keep foremost in your mind..is that a very small percentage of republicans are the rich..if they are only 2% of the country they cant be 50% of all republican supporters....the lionshare of republicans are not rich, most of them make under 100k a year. These same republicans are the ones that in the future are going to need SOCIAL SECURITY and MEDICARE the most...not the john boehners and Paul Ryans and Mitt Romneys...that they are supporting who if they could get away with it would end the programs...they know they cant do that so ryan did an end run and tried to kill it by attrition with vouchers and huge copays.
On another forum when obama was running against McCain in 2008 there was a guy the most vocal....screaming that Medicare, Social Security was unconstitutional along with medicaid...then we find out he was on disability social security and medicare at 41...
Many republicans are supporting republicans all the wrong reasons...evangelicals probably have the best reason of all to support them...but many others are just slashing their own throats...

Despite political disagreements with Jindal, he is in fact, not stupid:

Dude... just because he is "educated" does not mean he is not stupid. He a creationist... so yes he is stupid.

And do I care what Jindal has to say, we are over 16 trillion in debt and under Obama he has increased that debt by 6 trillion in just 4 yrs, and is still climbing by over a trillion a year under Liberal Obama. But to you liberals living on borrowed money is just fine as long as you don't have to pay for it. The EPA is killing the coal industry and all the jobs but you liberals don't care about jobs, never have. I could list a long page of job killing Liberal BS. Further you love entitlements, but you hate being told you are burring this country in a mountain of debt. Why, because you believe there is no end to the money supply.

Let me give you my perspective, which you entitlement loving people don't want to talk about is the cost. Obama increased the national debt by 6 trillion in just 4 yrs and under Obama he will increase it by over a trillion each year for the next 4 yrs. Any politician that promises more free stuff gets elected, and because of that we have now become an entitlement society, that is driving up our debt and that is all OK with you as long as you don't have to pay for it.

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal hurled harsh criticism at his own party after the GOP was blindsided in the 2012 elections, telling Republicans to end "dumbed-down conservatism" by putting a stop to "offensive, bizarre" comments.
“It is no secret we had a number of Republicans damage our brand this year with offensive, bizarre comments -- enough of that,” Jindal told Politico. “It’s not going to be the last time anyone says something stupid within our party, but it can’t be tolerated within our party. We’ve also had enough of this dumbed-down conservatism. We need to stop being simplistic, we need to trust the intelligence of the American people and we need to stop insulting the intelligence of the voters.”
Jindal told Politico Republicans should “stop being the stupid party” by working to embrace a larger group of constituents rather than becoming the party of "big anything."
The GOP governor criticized the idea that the GOP is "the party that simply protects the rich." Jindal even took a jab at Mitt Romney's now-infamous "47 percent" remarks, noting Republicans would have to be more inclusive going forward.

Bobby Jindal: GOP Should 'Stop Being The Stupid Party'
Bobby “I mock volcano monitoring and genetic research” Jindal is having a come-to-jebus moment about anti-intellectual demagoguery?

Bobby Jindal: GOP Should 'Stop Being The Stupid Party'

One way they could stop being the 'stupid party' is for guys like Jindal to not advocate the teaching of Creationism in public schools. That would be a start.

Its not the comments the moronic members of the party make its the reporting on them. Case in point the reporting of obama's "you didn't build that" was 1/4th that of Romney's 47% hidden video. Our media made a lot of hey over "legitimate rape" and paid scant attention to the riot that didn't kill 4 people in Benghazi in the last weeks of the election.

This isn't about the idiot statements - its about how they are reported by the leftists in charge of the lame stream media.

Obama's entire quote was exactly right. What are you talking about? Unless, of course, you think you built the interstate you drive on.

And Romney's 47% comment was just as spot on and just as irritating to those it was aimed at. I risked my home for my business - O'failure didn't do that for me. I DID it not him.

Obama's entire quote was exactly right. What are you talking about? Unless, of course, you think you built the interstate you drive on.

Here's the point - (.)

And here's you - (.)

You missed it.

foxnews told you that huh

I don't need FOX news to tell me, which you entitlement loving people don't want to talk about is the cost. Obama increased the national debt by 6 trillion in just 4 yrs and under Obama he will increase it by over a trillion each year for the next 4 yrs. Obama was dead wrong in his quote, "you did not build that" oh yes we did, the American people did, through taxation. So yes we did build that.

Obama was dead wrong in his quote, "you did not build that" oh yes we did, the American people did, through taxation. So yes we did build that.

I didn't know you were empowered to speak for the American People. Congratulations! It's a big responsibility, and frankly you aren't handling it really well.

I didn't know you were empowered to speak for the American People. Congratulations! It's a big responsibility, and frankly you aren't handling it really well.

And who empowered Obama to speak for the American People. Not me, I never voted for him. Now tell me who was Obama talking to when he said "you did not build that" that's right the American people. And guess what I have the same right as that bastard. But I will alter my comment, it was those Americans that paid taxes that built that. Now why don't you try and tell me who built that? Obama said you did not build that so who did? Give it your best shot

Obama was dead wrong in his quote, "you did not build that" oh yes we did, the American people did, through taxation. So yes we did build that.
Er, that was exactly his point. Listening to the whole makes that entirely clear, the Royal We built it. A whole crapload of people’s effort went into that, even starting before you personally contributed.

Except you left out a really important part where some of that was borrowed against future taxes, so tis time to cough it up.

And do I care what Jindal has to say, we are over 16 trillion in debt and under Obama he has increased that debt by 6 trillion in just 4 yrs, and is still climbing by over a trillion a year under Liberal Obama. Again, it is this kind of stupid, one-sided blanket accusation that is killing your party! And the crazy thing is you guys believe every one of it never once stopping long enough to even try to see things from the other side.

There are people out there who are hurting NOT because of policies the President signed into law, but because of policies that were in effect BEFORE he took office. Yet, you completely ignore that reality and instead inject your own.

Instead of acknowledging that our deficit has been increasing with each succeeding President/Congress, you lay blame squarely at the feet of this President (re: "6 trillion in just 4 yrs").

Instead of acknowledging that Congress has either been printing money or borrowing money for years, you would rather have everyone believe that this President (and a Democrat majority in Congress from the recent past) did it all by himself (themselves).

You point the finger at the EPA without acknowledging how the very "marketplace" you coveat has impacted the coal industry (i.e., natural gas and other low-cost alternatives energy sources slowly supplanting coal much as petrolium oil at one point supplanted whale oil).

Look, I get that many Americans are worried about the so-called "fiscal cliff". You're worried about America's place in the world today. You're worried that we've lost our edge, that the country has gone soft in the eyes of the world particular with our "enemies". You worry that America's properity is in jeopardy, that our ability to project power has been dinimished. I get it!

Relax!

America is not weak.

America will not go broke (not for real). We may be in debt up to our eyeballs, but we'll never go broke not as long as the world sees America as a commodity whether we perform as the world's top exporter as we once were post-WWII or as a leading importer. (Although you certainly want to be more of an exporter than an importer).

The only way our enemies get to us is if we pull another Pearl Harbor or 9/11 and get complacent.

And as far as our ability to project power, you're still thinking w/a Cold-War mentality. While we do need to be careful not to put too much stock in "digital/electronic" warfare, I think our military will continue to reassess its war-fighting capabilities and will always remain strong and fully capable of defending the homeland.

So, relax...

Ummm...just a guess, but right off hand I'd say...the voters!?! And I didn't vote for GWB the first time around but he was still my country's President. And that made him my President, too. I may not have liked some of the things he said or did, but I still called him "President of the United States of America" whether I agree with him or not.

(BTW, I'll ignore the "bastard" comment. Freedom of speech gives you that right to speak your mind, but maybe it's time to seak anger management courses to help you deal with losing the election. You really do need to get a grip and accept reality. Your side loss; get over it.)

He is correct ... greater than 90% of the Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and other professionals i work with ( over 300+) not only support ACA ...they view the GOP as the dumbed down Fox News tabloid infotainment bumper sticker party.

Be clear ... I know there are many intelligent and progressive republicans that comprehend science and know that unified bodies for military and healthcare are not socialism and that regulations in industries such as banking and Wall Street are correct and right.

I actually think most Americans are centrists with minor differences. I know I will receive flack on this statement and I have no back up or statistically significant study to back this up ... it imho.

Intelligent thinking Americans know the Democrats are not socialists and know the Republicans are not all Rush Limbaughs ...! They just have different viewpoints on resolving some issues and hopefully all want the best decisions to grow out beautiful Democratic Republic the United States of America!

I think both parties should join together for finance reform and to mitigate Citizens United v. FEC. Both are the antithesis of a democracy and voices for We the People!

I only know one doctor who supports Obamacare and he is about to retire. the others are planning to retire because Obamacare was upheld. Doctors don't like having more of their income taken by parasites in government. Obama is supported by the scumbags who sue doctors as well

When a Republican says something stupid, it's headline news and you will definitely hear about it. When a Democrat says something stupid, it's only repeated on Fox, and then labeled "partisan" and worthy of dismissal, if not instantly branded a lie.

Everybody remember when Joe Biden said you can't go to a 7/11 or a Duncan Donuts without an Indian accent? "But, that's like, just off the cuff. He doesn't really mean it. It's not important. The REAL racists are all in the Republican party."

Democrats are going to keep believing that the Republicans are the party of the stupid and intolerant, while Republicans will continue to believe that the Democrats are the party of of the lazy welfare queens. It's nice Jinadal is being proactive, but honestly, everyone seems to be a dumbass lately. They aren't confined to just one party.

Rep. Joe Atkins from Missouri disagrees with Governor Jindal. Atkins says that you can say anything you want because if you don't mean what you say then your words cannot harm anyone. <insert fap icon here>

You mean Todd Akin, right?

I am looking forward for Jindal to be a candidate in 2016..hopefully the stupid republican establishment doesn't block him off and try to get a "moderate" guy to come in and continue the crazy progressive side of the GOP. We must work for liberty, not political gain, and pandering.

Probably not, highlighting my continual contention that the "Birthers" are not primarily motivated by "racism" but by pure partisanship

Hillary was the one who started the Obama birther stuff.
