NO To ObamaCare Says Florida Governor Rick Scott.....

There are those who are determined to make Obamacare fail just like those who were determined to make Obama a 1 term president...and we know how that ended don't we?

Not yet.
 
Sometimes its time to stop fighting and move on, this isn't slavery, this isn't British rule, this isn't prohibition. What exactly do the Republicans intend to do by fighting it at this point? They don't control the government and can't repeal it, the SCOTUS has said its perfectly legal, the only thing they have left to do is try to make it fail rather than trying to make it succeed.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, its a fact of life and if people didn't stop fighting after its become clear they've lost then nothing would ever get done as we'd be arguing the same issues till the end of time. What if both the Dems and Republicans had the same "never quit fighting" attitude? Are we just going to go in a cycle of repealing and reimplementing Obamacare as Dems and Reps switch control of the government?

The sad thing is that this is something that has the potential to do a great deal of good for the country, we would finally be able to begin to honor that famous passage in the declaration of independence: "that among these (unalienable rights) are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,"

You cannot have any one of those things let alone all of them if you do not have your health, anyone afflicted by illness knows how crippling it can be.

Now, I'm not saying that I think Obamacare is what we need or even that the idea of socialized healthcare is something we're ready for or even that it is something practical right now given the state of the economy but like it or not it's here. Everyone who is bitching about it can either cry about it some more cause hell and make everything a thousand times worse or you can swallow your pride and try to work together with the otherside (and if you did that in the beginning we all would have been much better off now).

Florida Republican Gov. Rick Scott says he will not implement the state health insurance exchanges mandated in the 2010 federal health care law despite President Barack Obama's re-election.

The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports:


Speaking on the New College of Florida campus following a meeting of the state's university governing board, Scott said it will cost taxpayers and business owners too much to expand Medicaid and set up health insurance exchanges as called for under the law.

"No one has been able to show me that that health care exchange is going to do anything rather than raise taxes, raise the cost of our companies to do business," Scott said, adding that expanding Medicaid would also require tax increases.
Scott is one of many Republican governors who have resisted the state programs required by the law before Election Day, but he's the first to voice continued resistance after the election.....snip~

Looks like 28 other Republican Governors need to step up and do what they said too.


This mental patient look alike is well on his way to being a one term Gov and being carried out of the statehouse in a Straight Jacket.
Hes pissing off republicans too...there are TONS of republican low income people in florida with NO HEALTHCARE...and there were republicans in those long 6 hr wait lines to vote too because he wouldnt extend early voting back to where it was before he changed it.
 
I never could have guessed that a Republican governor would reject Obamacare.

In Florida, there was a proposed constitutional amendment that would prohibit mandates to purchase private health insurance.

It seems that it hasn't passed.

And my local Florida paper today actually had an article about how Gov. Scott is backing off on his criticism for Obamacare.

So I don't see why governors - Republican or otherwise - would be against something that the people of their state seem to be supporting.
 
I get that people don't like it, or at least don't like parts of it, but its time to move on and accept that its the law now. No one wants to keep fighting the same battles over and over and beating the same dead horse over and over again.

Slavery was once the law. I guess they should hae accepted it and moved on.
 
my own state is also on track to throw a tantrum and to refuse to set up the exchange. result : the fedgov will set it up for us. a pointless exercise in impotent rage, but whatever gets you through the night, I guess.

He will back off it...most of the republicans in florida DONT HAVE health insurance....most republicans in florida are NOT RICH they vote republican for other reasons...Religion, abortion, guns...you know sam the gop talking points to get votes so the rich can get what they want..

Why this administration has shown that if you don't like a law, simply don't enforce it .. isn't that what has been done with our immigration laws ? Don't have the man power or money to enforce them .. so we just ignore them . This sound very much the same to me ..

A policy very much en vogue by Presidents since Ronald Reagan, it should be added.

How long will it be before people who think like this complain about employers who blame obamacare for not hiring new employees?
