Amendment 64 Passes: Colorado Legalizes Marijuana For Recreational Use

I hope it works out well for the people of CO. I have always felt this should be a state issue and the federal government should stay the hell out of it.

expect the federal government to stick their noses in. obama has been as radical as any president on busting legal marijuana shops.

I can't really see the feds folding here

Washington state has passed it as well now

they wont. expect busts, busts everywhere, fbi in the streets of denver and seattle, etc.

from the current admins response to medical MJ, this is my thought as well

What is the cost of living average out to out there?

I lived there for about a year. Pretty expensive in the mountains. Reasonable in the metro areas comparably. Also, I lived in a small mountain town with 3 dispensaries and none saw any raids. I think it's not going to be as cut and dry as some may think. This will certainly be the next big test/step towards legalization. I actually quit smoking a while ago for personal reasons and plan to stay with that, but I'll admit that if this passes, I'm going back to visit some friends and lighting up in celebration of the end of a bull**** prohibition.

Huge revenue and job loss for minority communities.

Actually, the majority of inner city drug dealers (looking at things like crack) still live with their parents, while risking death everyday to barely eek by. Only the leaders are really making any money. I think it'd be ok to lose this "revenue."

Where is that weirdo here on dp who was making the most outrageous arguments against legalization? I want to hear from him, he was most entertaining.

OK with you or OK with them?

Ok with me. Besides, I just realized this myself, but that's crack I was talking about...Not pot. People in inner cities will just buy weed from the store just like alcohol or cigarettes if it becomes legalized. Are you trying to say I'm anti-minority because I want to take away a form of their income? Or am I totally misreading this situation? Either way, taking a criminal element away from marijuana is a positive for society as a whole.

Maybe if more states follow suit it will push Obama to legalize it on the federal level.

That's my thought. And the fact that this ISN'T California I think is going to help the movement as well.

Didn't California do something similar in 2010 which the federal government shot down?

Well, Colorado has been a pretty big legal marijuana state for quite awhile. I honestly would have been shocked if this amendment failed.
