UPDATE: New Jersey utility denies turning away nonunion electric crew volunteers from

Re: Union Thuggary at it's Finest

So, the only account of anyone being turned away from working in NJ is that a 6 man crew was approached "by crews in New Jersey" while they sat in a staging area in VIRGINIA and told they couldn't work in New Jersey without affiliating with IBEW?

Does anyone really think agents of New Jersey Electrical unions (or as it is reported, actual service crews from NJ) traveled to Virginia to intercept inbound Southern non-union electrical workers?

"A six man crew from Decatur Utilities headed up there this week, but Derrick Moore, one of the Decatur workers, said they were told by crews in New Jersey that they can't do any work there since they're not union employees."

Again, told by crews "in New Jersey" while they sat in a staging area IN VIRGINA???????????

"The general manager of Decatur Utilities, Ray Hardin told Fox Business they were presented documents from the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers at a staging area in Virginia. The documents stated they had to affiliate with a union to work, which the crews could not agree to.

Hardin said the crews were not turned away but were made to believe that affiliating with the union was a requirement to work.

"It was and remains our understanding that agreeing to those requirements was a condition of being allowed to work in those areas," said Hardin.

As they waited for confirmation on the documents, crews received word that Seaside Heights had received the assistance they needed from other sources.

At this stage, it is not clear who is alleged to have turned the crew away and the company that employs the affected workers has denied the claim.

IBEW local leaders in New Jersey have reiterated what has been the long standing record of our union –in times of crisis all help is welcome and we pull together with everyone to meet the needs of the public. We have communicated this to the office of New Jersey Governor Christie as well,
" said IBEW President Ed Hill."

Doesn't pass the smell test to me.

And it sure doesn't say anyone from Seaside Heights made union affiliation a prerequisite for working in that town . . .

Sounds to me some Obamabot agent provocateurs were busy in Virgina and their ploy with a half-dozen half-wits was a raging success!

Re: Union Thuggary at it's Finest

Weren't you or rocket88 just a few pages back talking about contracts, how there is this conspiracy to screw poor little unions by using out of state volunteers and how out of state volunteers are scabs?

I didn't say it was a conspiracy, just that the abolition of unions would make the Daily Caller (and the OP) jump with joy. In other words, any fact that they have, whether or not they've gone and checked for truthfulness is going to be jumped on. My use of the word "scab" may have been ill-advised, as it has put the wrong idea in people's heads.

Some unions need to be abolished, especially in govt. Even FDR stated that govt unions were wrong.

Re: Union Thuggary at it's Finest

For real?
These guys are offering to help assist the local people, for free.

Good lord, no good deed goes unpunished I suppose.

Free ? or are they getting paid by their state...aside from that I want to see a mainstream media source...there are so many lieing partisan blogs out there now

Re: Union Thuggary at it's Finest

Looks like the outrage of the day.

Looks like the outrage of the day.

People are drawing guns on each other. No gas, no water, no power, no food. People are cold and hungry. Meanwhile, Obungo is out campaigning and fund raising. Nice.

My guy isn't the President. Obama always has time to campaign. Actually work and do his job...not so much.

You want me to respect a man who doesn't respect the American people? Not gonna happen.

Re: Union Thuggary at it's Finest

You are truly a great American. How do you justify your guy writing off 47% of the American people up front, deadbeat loser victims that dont pay taxes seems pretty drun disrepsectful to me. Or does it depend on which Americans are disrespected.

It's not like Obama's the first guy to run for re-election. Save your outrage.

People freezing and dying while Democrat govt hacks stand around for the camera.

Staten Island Resident Confronts Chuck Schumer; 'We Are Gonna Die!'
I'm now convinced that rats are more intelligent than human beings. At least they go elsewhere when impending doom is near. Seriously, if staying there means you're going to die, go somewhere safer, build a fire, scavenge for food. Something other than waiting for somebody else to do something.

I don't justify anything. It stands or falls on its own. I think calling Americans "bitterly clinging to their bibles and guns" being darn disrespectful.

They're obviously Democrats. Only a dumb democrat would stick around and then expect govt to help them.

Or it has nothing to do with politics. People in general have the same level of needing constant maintenance and micromanaging as turkeys.

Everything for the next few days has to do with politics.

Re: UPDATE: New Jersey utility denies turning away nonunion electric crew volunteers

This has been proven false in another thread.

Yes, I know. The Unions have built such a bad reputation the last few years, they deserve all the bad press they can get.
