I don't care if it would please some outside body, that's immaterial.
    People need power now.

There is a time and place to ignore non essential laws and this is one of them.

So all that is good enough reason to deny people electricity sooner?
Your argument is basically, politics over people.

I absolutely agree. In fact, this would be a really good time for them to negotiate better pay and benefits. may as well take care of that stuff while you have leverage, right? Besides, all those people without electricity - sitting there in the cold and dark - will only come to appreciate the unions more once they get service back.

The story is not true. Nobody was turned away.

All I can say is "wow". The idea is to help the people who need it the most. The victims of the hurricanes. All other rules, ideas, agendas and opinions should be laid aside until the victims are restored enough to be able to at least help themselves. We are supposed to care about people. Unions do serve some place in some parts of society. I am not necessarily all for them or all against them. But during this time of devastation, this is not the time to be concerned about the union workers rights. Not during a state of emergency. Once the dust settles, yes, I would agree that the unions could go back to business as usual. But right now, the victims should be top priority, above anything else.

    That really isn't the point.
Many of you find it perfectly fine, that this situation were true.

    Completely unreal.

Nope, many of us just think that the residents should get first dibs on any work. Then, if you need something or somebody extra, you bring in your volunteers.

And that's crazy, in this situation.

I don't think it's crazy at all. What's the problem with hiring the people who are most affected? It certainly wouldn't take longer to get them. What's the objection?
