[QUTOE]The Occupy movement received vindication from unlikely source tonight, as a senior executive at the Bank of England credited it with stirring a “reformation of finance”.

In a glowing appraisal of the movement’s achievements, Andrew Haldane, executive director of financial stability, said Occupy protesters had been “both loud and persuasive”, and had attracted public support because “they are right”.

“Some have suggested … that Occupy’s voice has been loud but vague, long on problems, short on solutions. Others have argued that the fault-lines in the global financial system, which chasmed during the crisis, are essentially unaltered, that reform has failed,” Mr Haldane said in a speech tonight.

“I wish to argue that both are wrong – that Occupy’s voice has been both loud and persuasive and that policymakers have listened and are acting in ways which will close those fault-lines. In fact, I want to argue that we are in the early stages of a reformation of finance, a reformation which Occupy has helped stir.”

Speaking at an Occupy Economics event in central London, Mr Haldane said that Occupy had been “successful in its efforts to popularise the problems of the global financial system for one very simple reason: they are right.”

So it looks like Occupy's movement has harnessed some slow change in England. Looks like something is actually happening. Maybe this will come to America. Maybe some new policies will change?

I disagree with him in that policymakers are listening to the Occupy Movement.

At the most, policymakers will agree with the Occupy Movement but won't do anything about it.

If any policymaker did try to push forth the Occupy Movement's agendas, I think it would be because they are trying to somehow benefit themselves.

I won't believe any policymaker, at least in the U.S., will actually be pushing forth the Occupy Movement's agenda until 10 years from now when those involved in the protests are of an age to campaign for seats in the House.

The occupy movement . RIP

it died because the people of the USA got involved,

The occupy movement did not originate in the USA but it was certainly contaminated and destroyed there

that shouldnt surprise anyone in the world folks

It was destroyed in part by the right wing parties in certain countries and their "friendly" media and police. This happened in the UK and Spain (where it all started).. although there seems to be a second wind in Spain now. That might spread again around the world depending on who wins the White House.

No.

So it looks like Occupy's movement has harnessed some slow change in England. Looks like something is actually happening.

Or maybe a cynic might argue that this is rich suited establishment figure going along to a group of people and making the same usual patronizing speeches that politcians make.

"We've listened to your voices, we agree with you, its time for change, so you can go home now youve achieved what you want"

Meanwhile nothing changes.

I dont know, maybe Im a cynic but listening to what Occupy were saying, & comparing it to what the British government have done, Im inclined to think, with my cynical mind this is closer to a polite "**** off" than its to what its portrayed as.

He is speaking from a perspective of an Englishman. The policymakers of Britain probably have made much larger strides then that of our policymakers. While they look for solutions, we look to bicker over insignificant technicalities. Other policy makers work for the betterment of the people, our policy makers work for the next term and the puppet master of the party.

It's a mob movement filled with thugs, radicals, rapists, and murderers

Yep so many "thugs". So many "rapists". And so many "murderers". Its like the modern day Manson family..

The Occupy movement isn't dead because, in a way, the Occupy movement never existed. Occupying is a TACTIC that was used to some extent and has now gone the way of the dinosaur, at least in the US. You would be kidding yourself if you think that because the camps were evicted, that people are no longer pissed off and now, all of the sudden, want to go back to the way things were. Hell no. That is not the case at all.

I will say it again OCCUPYING WAS A TACTIC THAT HAD ITS LIMITATIONS AND HAS RUN ITS COURSE.

If you guys think this is over, wait till the next economic crisis. You won't be laughing then because the country will be on the verge of civil war.

Hey ... if it ain't in the media it aint around (sarcasm)
