4 Ways Mitt Romney Botched His Hurricane Sandy Response

One of these is already being talked about in a thread (privatizing disaster relief). This shows his character in a crisis situation.

Romney’s team is reportedly gathering supplies to gain points with Virginia swing voters, but they’re not demonstrating their compassion as much as their ignorance of how officials operate in a disaster situation.

Even I know that, if you truly want to help, you should communicate with the agency you are seeking to assist – or just check its website.

    According to the Red Cross:

Unfortunately, due to logistical constraints the Red Cross does not accept or solicit individual donations or collections of items. Items such as collected food, used clothing and shoes must be sorted, cleaned, repackaged and transported which impedes the valuable resources of money, time, and personnel.

    ...

Romney is seemingly unconcerned about Dem-led states in the storm’s path, neglecting to call any Democratic governors bracing for the storm in states such as Maryland (Gov. O’Malley), Massachusetts (Gov. Patrick), New York (Gov. Cuomo), and North Carolina (Gov. Perdue). And it’s Romney who wrongly accuses Obama of rejecting bi-partisanship.

The Romney campaign isn't gathering supplies for the Red Cross. His campaign bus is being used to transport basic supplies to local storm relief centers. He sent out an email to his supporters asking them to make contributions to the Red Cross. He has suspended campaign operations tomorrow. I doubt if dem Governors Patrick, O'Malley or Cuomo would appreciate taking time out of their busy day to talk to Romney. He's in no position to help them. I'm sure his calls to Christi and O'Donnell were to offer his campaign's services if they're needed in an emergency.

4 Ways Mitt Romney Botched His Hurricane Sandy Response
    1. Romney Batters President While Sandy Batters Coast
So whats Romney suppose to do? He is not the President, he's not even a Senator/Congressman. He has no power of the government behind him. He is not a part of an organization that is designed to help others. So...whats he suppose to do?

    2. Romney’s Impeding Red Cross Relief Efforts
Is the things he gathering earmarked for the Red Cross? Or some other organization which DOES recieve items? Funny how thats missing in that article.

    3. Romney’s Playing Partisan Favorites With Calls To Governors
1: Is he talking to those Governors about Sandy? Or something else? Is private conversations available to the "Addicting Info" site that this is on and no where else?
2: Who says that he has not called any of the Democrat Governors?

    4. Once Again, Romney’s Exploiting A National Tragedy For His Own Gain
Every past President and presidential hopeful has done the same thing. Including Obama.

Sadly, this is what the election has become. Both sides are willing to jump on anything, no matter how asinine to score a point.

Hate to rain on your hurricane, but a great number of charities collect supplies and truck them to disaster sites--the whole world does not revolve around the Red Cross. Go ahead and start spinning this because the guy who people think walks on water cannot and if goes out campaigning at all between now and monday, it will look like he is more interested in politics than people's lives. 60+million people are in the storm zone and Obama is now between a rock and a hardplace between now and Tuesday. Not saying it is fair for him, but it is a reality.

Boy this is a stretch! You folks are really getting desperate. I did however enjoy the anti Obama and pro Bachman ads at addictinginfo.org.

I love Bachman. She is a special blend of Fruit Loops--one who makes sense 80% of the time, but then there is that 20% roller coaster

Re: 4 Ways Mitt Romney Botched His Hurricane Sandy Response

Well, I thought the whole article was pretty funny myself. Perhaps Mitt could spare some of the $310,607,684 in campaign contributions he has received to help some people out. I did some digging around to see if there were other articles that could be better cited and they only talked about his privatizing disaster relief.

I'll give it to him, his campaign wants to make safety priority #1...here's a few good laughs I found while searching:
“For safety’s sake, as you and your family prepare for the storm, please be sure to bring any yard signs inside. In high winds they can be dangerous, and cause damage to homes and property.”
Ryan had his family in tow for the factory visit in New Philadelphia, and his 7-, 9- and 10-year-olds scampered between parts bins and heavy chains. Nine-year-old Charlie waved the peace sign and mugged for cameras, prompting his mother, Janna Ryan, to shake her head and declare, "I don't know where he gets it. It's kind of crazy."
And we should also mention that the Republican Party’s 2011 spending bill slashed the budget for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, cutting $700 million intended for an overhaul of America’s aging weather satellite system.
At the last minute, I did find an article regarding point #2 from the OP article:
Romney campaign “hindering” and “impeding” Hurricane Sandy relief
Scientific fact: If you took all of the veins from your body and laid them end to end, you would die.

Re: 4 Ways Mitt Romney Botched His Hurricane Sandy Response

The Red Cross sucks. They stole most the money for 9-11 and pay themselves 6 figure salaries. Romney got it right by NOT using the Red Cross and instead other relief efforts. But I am confident that Romney did 1,000,000 times as much as the OP did - and not being in office Romney had no obligation to do anything because the storm isn't a political event.

NOW, let's all wait and read what Helix2048 had done himself. I suspect, like many "liberals," his view is that he should do nothing and insist others do all charity work. We'll see if I'm right about that.
