4 Ways Mitt Romney Botched His Hurricane Sandy Response

Easy.... follow the Red Cross and other relief institutions guidelines... Donate money.. and in Romney's case a buttload of money. He can afford it after all. Getting "supplies" is nothing but a photo op and goes against the wishes of main-stream relief organisations guidelines.

I hope that all of the donations were checked for expiration dates.

Irrelevant. Most of his donations went to his freaking church, far far far away from the disaster area.

So? His taxes are going to pay for the relief and recovery. Also is the LDS church doing nothing to help?

Not his job.

It's called volunteering. People do it a lot. Especially Mormons.

It in fact takes resources away from the disaster area, because now Red Cross has to send people to "help the Romney campaign" move unwanted goods, instead of focusing on relief. There is a reason all relief organisations say they want cash or blood, not canned goods. Money is easier to move than canned goods.

The Red Cross does not have to do anything they choose not to.

Obama is the commander in chief.. he is doing his job and doing it well... I know that pisses the right off, but even Chris Christie, a Romney surrogate says that Obama is doing a good job on this.

Well believing he is doing his job well is subjective. And Commander in Chief is a military position.

They would never turn away donations if it was cash. But moving a ton of relief supplies from Ohio to say New York will take time, cost money and take away resources from the area. They already have a lot of relief supplies near the effected areas, and just have to get it out.. but noo, they have to play a political football and lend Romney and his political aspirations a hand to move unwanted supplies to where they are supposedly needed. It is simply a waste of resources, but they cant say no as it would turn the US right against them.

Again, they don't need to do anything they choose not to. Excuses sound so good though.

Those that need them are far away from where the goods were given.. and that is the freaking point!

No the point is trying to fabricate some story to slag Romney on.

i believe the two candidates' responses to this disaster is an excellent portal to see how they would lead government if elected president

Romney is showing Americans what they can do without govt.

Romney is doing great by showing the nation how to help without govt. That's why the left is crying about Romney helping out.

of course both sides are playing equally to the election with the storm stuff. Obama is winning clearly though, partly through being the actual president in a crisis. All he has to do is do his job well in the crisis and keep his mouth shut about the election in connection with storm activities. Which he's done. Very well. So well that top GOPers are praising him. Romney doesnt have a natural wedge into this thing and couldnt do much about it.

Thats not an article. Its a blog.

And one that should be avoided at all costs. If you've been going there with an unprotected browser it's like trolling for a sexual partner at the AIDs clinic. Do NOT click on the ads.

I love Bachman. She is a special blend of Fruit Loops--one who makes sense 80% of the time, but then there is that 20% roller coaster

I think the 80% estimate is incredibly generous. I'd say 50% of the time she is a genuinely evil bitch and 50% of the time she's just nuts.

I think Governor Christie's evaluation is pretty much spot on. His praise of the President and the efforts of FEMA could be hardly more effusive.

Of course, Mitt Romney wants to abolish FEMA and turn all of this over to 'private organizations'. I'm sure that's a great comfort to the people in the devastated area.

When the campaign is over and the poorer areas affected (those out of sight of the press) are still a mess months later Christie won't be so happy with Obama.

You like FEMA? Let em know, maybe they'll give you one of the death trailers they've been trying to unload as a prize.

Well, you'd know far more about how FEMA and the Federal Goverment is doing its job in New Jersey than the Governor of the state. Congratulations on taking partisan politics to yet a new low.

It's the 20% that kills her. A healthy piece of food is not healthy if mixed with unhealthy stuff.

Well, I thought the whole article was pretty funny myself. Perhaps Mitt could spare some of the $310,607,684 in campaign contributions he has received to help some people out. I did some digging around to see if there were other articles that could be better cited and they only talked about his privatizing disaster relief.

I'll give it to him, his campaign wants to make safety priority #1...here's a few good laughs I found while searching:

At the last minute, I did find an article regarding point #2 from the OP article:
Romney campaign “hindering” and “impeding” Hurricane Sandy relief

Aren't tehre laws about what a cantidate can do with campaign donations?

The money is not his private piggy bank and he can't just decide to use it for whatever he wants.
