A Second CEO Threatens To Fire Employees If Obama Is Re-elected

“Many of you have been with ASG for over 5, 10, 15, and even 20 years. As you know, together, we have been able to keep ASG an independent company while still growing our revenues and customers. But I can tell you, if the US re-elects President Obama, our chances of staying independent are slim to none. I am already heavily involved in considering options that make our independence go away, and with that all of our lives would change forever. I believe that a new President and administration would give US citizens and the world the renewed confidence and optimism we all need to get the global economies started again, and give ASG a chance to stay independent. If we fail as a nation to make the right choice on November 6th, and we lose our independence as a company, I don’t want to hear any complaints regarding the fallout that will most likely come. [...]

I am asking you to give us one more chance to stay independent by voting in a new President and administration on November 6th. Even then, we still might not be able to remain independent, but it will at least give us a chance. If we don’t, that chance goes away.”

Is it me, or is this kind of bullying a bunch of BS? I don't think it should be legal for employers to pull this kind of stuff. People have the right to vote for whoever they want.

That is one of the reasons we have secret ballots. That said, I don't like it when employers do this. At the same time I see it done all the time in strongly democrat professions. I don't believe Ben & Jerry's hire republicans to begin with.

It's absolute bs. He's hiring more for America than Asia or Europe according to his webpage ASG Jobs. Therefore, he is bs someone. One company I worked at brought in someone running for the house to speak to us and the CEO required we attend. I was very secure in my job so I kind of liked it because I got to ask very specific questions about the things she stood for. I don't think she was prepared for such specific questions because she didn't come across well. The CEO was fuming but I had a dotted line to the people who owned the company so he had to eat it. That was the last time anyone came to speak to us.

It seems to me like that guy is attempting to:

-hold the country hostage by threatening to fire some people
-blackmail people

regardless of whether he is bull****ting or not

This is sick... Holding employers hostage via a vote is not ok.

Sounds like they will be or should be job hunting anyway.

There are certain topics that shouldn't be discussed at work. Politics, religion, sex, and addictions. It's one thing to have a political view, but it's wrong to force other people to participate. It bothers me that some people have no respect for others at work. I don't want to hear about the hooker you picked up last night, and I really don't want to hear about who you think I should vote for. I am perfectly capable of making an informed decision on my own.

Maybe we should round up these CEO's and give them the Ludovico Technique. In my mind, what they are doing to their employees is just as bad.

This is just the tip of the iceberg..........God forbid if Obama is ever reelected look for unemployment to go up to at least 15% and the biggest recession since the Stock Market crashed in 1929.

The sky is falling and I didn't know?!?

The CEOs are just being stupid, "oh no, New regulations and I might have to adapt?" Talk about whining, Obama will probably win and give us another lackluster 4 years in which the sky won't fall and we won't be raptured by the glory of the free market either. It amazes me that anyone older than a teenager isn't mature enough to realize all this doom and gloom stuff never pans out.

Would you prefer it if companies fired employees without advanced knowledge if Obama gets re-elected? I promise you that it'll happen.

Call it blackmail all you want. I call it a warning and common courtesy.

Good for him. Unlike our pathological liar president, he is being honest with his employees. We know Obama singularly cares only about himself and will lie, hurt and manipulate anyone for his political gain.

We well understand how deeply Obama hates freedom of speech after his UN speech.

Do we seriously have to go through all the changes in campaign promises Romney has made to get his chance to become President?

Do we have to go through ALL hes switched back and forth on and avoided to be president...he is a chameleon in every sense of the word...but hey sam...him and paulie are going to be a taxcut in every pot and ALL will PROSPER...lol

People have the right to vote for whoever they want.

This doesn't interfere with anybody's right to vote.

Private companies don't have an obligation to provide jobs for people if they don't want to. Employment at this company is mutually voluntary, if employees don't like what the CEO is doing, they can leave and seek employment elsewhere.

No, it doesn't interfere with anyone's right to vote. However, there are a lot of people who might not be able to go to work for another company. For example, my job is a highly specialized IT position. I can't work for another company because I don't have a college degree to get my foot in the door, even though I have 12 years in my field.

Thankfully, my company doesn't pull bulls**t stunts like this.

With all due respect, whether or not you can find a new job is your problem, not your employer's problem.

They are just his employees not his slaves. Nobody has the right to tell you how to vote, which religion to pray to, or who you should love.

That is why we vote in private. It is nobody's business who you vote for. Pulling that kind of crap and you never know when you might trip over a shank.

There is a big difference between changing stances on policies - with nothing wrong with that whatsoever - from making exact campaign promises hundreds of times and then doing 100% exactly the oposite when it was 100% possible to do what you promised.

I have no clue why anyone believes anything Obama says. His promises this time are exactly what he promised last time, and he did the opposite last time. So his campaign of believe him when he tells you he isn't lying this time is credible to you?

AND we know he will do exactly what he did the last time because he - like you - claim it is completely unacceptable to ever change about anything.

That is true. I mentioned this in another thread: there are some things you should not discuss at work. Politics, religion and sex have no business in the workplace.

Any employer of yours who saw that message should instantly fire anyone who made such a statement as a danger to everyone at the business.

So, really, you prefer your company would just surprise shut down and lay everyone off. Got it.

So what you're saying is that it's okay for Romney to flip flop because he's a Republican, but when Obama can't fulfill campaign promises because of hostility from Congress he's a liar because he's a Democrat.

That's up to the employer to decide.

I'm not worried about that happening. I work for an international company and they are doing really well.

As President and CEO of my S-corporation, I told myself that I will fire myself if Obama is not re-elected. I expect democrats top jump to my defense now. Ready, set, go........
