Ryan-endorsed Wisconsin Republican: ‘Some girls rape so easy’

Ryan-endorsed Wisconsin Republican: ‘Some girls rape so easy’ | The Raw Story

A Wisconsin State Rep. endorsed by Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan told a reporter that he believes “some girls rape so easy.”
State Rep. Roger Rivard (R) later insisted he was merely recounting a story from his father about the dangers men face in having premarital sex. Instead, he somehow wandered into a jaw-dropping commentary on how easy it is to accidentally rape women.

    Any republican care to comment?

Why should it just be republicans commenting? Is there some sort of asinine rule limiting criticism to the party from which the action originated?

There is no cause so right that you cannot find a fool following it, if you are looking for one.

In a nation of 315 million plus, there are surely plenty of fools at all ends of the politicial spectrum.

    You found one. Congrats.

While I generally don't have an issue with the generalized sentiment and warning of his father, the method of stating it and the seeming mentality that his father built upon the general foundation was incredibly ignorant and short sited and the politician was ridiculous to reuse such words in almost any situation I could possibly imagine. I would wager that it will likely have a negative impact on his candidacy for a state house position.

Although he worded it very (VERY) badly, consentual sex during into a claim of rape the next day is not all that unheard of.

I'm going to guess the point of the statement has to do with outlawing abortion and then how to address all a woman need say is "I was raped" to get around a rape exemption.

I'm very very pro-choice, but trying to attack Ryan by claiming he endorsed a fellow Republican and then going further to find some badly worded pro-life explanation that other person said goes into the whelm of desperation as an attack against Ryan.

It is known Ryan is very pro-life. The OP adds nothing to that.

Note that he had done so before this thread was even made.

I hate this stuff in general, because despite how stupid it sounds in print I'd wager that these are the kinds of jokes a huge amount of Americans say all the time with their friends, especially given the context he alleges. It's what annoys me about electoral politics, people who otherwise wouldn't be offended at all, and would never really believe that someone saying something sexist, racist, or offensive in general off the cuff is indicative of anything more than being normal suddenly don all of their white armor and pretend to be righteously indignant. It makes politics so damn robotic and personality based. For example there is no damn way LBJ could run for anything today. Why? He'd get outed for making jokes about his giant dick.

I don't know much about this guy, about why he said this other than his own explanation, and I don't care. It isn't a big deal to me at all.

Well, we all know republicans think women are a big joke and want the right to tell all women in the US when to have a baby, how many babies to have and by whom.

How's that war on women working out for you ladies?

Withdrawing AFTER the comment was made. But he endorsed this man before. Did he not know this guy? Just partisan politics? O does he agree with this man's depiction of women by his own desire to tell women WHEN to have babies, HOW many to have and by WHOM with withholding abortions and birth control from women?
