America’s Dumbest War, Ever

I liked Les Aspin. Some believe his role in refusing to send in armored vehicles, including tanks, broke his heart and led to his death. The military requested the vehicles well before this battle. Aspin said no.

He did what Clinton told him to do. And then he resigned with the disaster. And died a haunted man.

To his credit, he worked well across the aisle with Reagan. Clinton was no Reagan.

Actually, you claimed, from your starting point of near perfect knowledge that I didn't know. It is possible you don't recognize the difference.

I claimed that the rules of engagement have become so restrictive under Obama that the troops cannot win. They cannot fight effectively. I use the tools I have, my interaction with our customer, to draw my conclusions.

But you claim near perfect knowledge. Of course I had to laugh.

These posts are horrific.

Thank the Lord that Clinton was no Reagan. Reagan did enough damage that has been with us for decades and continues to haunt us. Deregulation, union-busting, banking laws that made mega-banks into worse mega banks, leaving Lebanon in a shambles with Marines dead, etc.

Yeah, the deregulation thing was an utterly crappy decision.

It provided infrastructural growth.

It cost the taxpayers well over a hundred billion dollars, paved the way for future lending and financial mortgage crises and led to the failure of almost 25% of the S&L institutions.

That infrastructure is kinda everyone's.

10 more years of COIN operations before we even have a chance at a successful economy?

Are you serious?
Define your terms better. What is the goal? If the goal is to deny a sanctuary state then who cares how long we need to be there?

Didn't clicky, there are many fresh-built homes/town/aparts ready for anyone with some income. It's a renters market.

Not a buyers though and we still have a near failing infrastructure... *shrugs*

Actually, he is correct. You are not debating very well. Seriously. :)

He made a claim and then admitted he couldn't back it up, not because they were classified, but because he didn't really know.

That's the long and short of it; there's nothing beyond that except me making him admit that and then having fun at his expense. Seriously.

OK. I don't really care... just commented on what it looked like.

Actually, that is a lie... I CARE IMMENSELY :)

He tried to backpedal, obfuscate, and dodge, but that's what it came down to. Note how my disputing his argument descended into "well, I don't know for real, but neither of us can prove it!" when the onus of proving something falls on the guy making the initial claim.

It wasn't a good showing and I feel bad for him. I might paypal him some money, for compensation.

My "lie" was sarcasm... I don't really care at all. ;)

That will take at least another decade to get going. The deposits the Soviets found decades ago is a pipe dream for short to medium term economic independence. And the American public does not have the stomach for another decade of occupation.

Unfortunately anti-colonialists have gained control of the US government.

You really do not get it do you? No. You really don't.

I get it. You said something you not only couldn't back up, but didn't even know to be true. You're a 17 second Stalinist, so it figures.

Why don't you guys start over... I want to see this from the beginning and judge.
