this is why I don't want to live next to people.
I'd rather live next to the one who called than the one who let her kids run around in the street. Her kids would probably not like me very much.
Tigger I know you think you are pretty much a hard-core throwback to the old school , but understand when I say that if you had my wife arrested because you decided to have a snit about my kids playing outside, the words "getting medieval" would end up taking on a whole new literal meaning for you .
Yeah, right  There's NO way she was arrested for that. I'm thinking there's a LOT more to the story that isn't mentioned in that short article.
I will say this. Calling the police would happen only AFTER junior had been dragged back to your front door on a previous occasion and you wife informed "Please keep your TRASH out of my yard." Considering the fact that there would be both "No Solicitation" and "No Tresspassing" signs on the property, if not a fence also, I'd like to think your children would be taught to respect either or both. As for the fact that these kids were in the street (rather than on the sidewalk where they belonged).... My car would probably not suffer too much damage from accidentally hitting one of them if they darted out in the wrong spot at the wrong time.

Teh kids were probably in teh street because some retard yelled at them for being in his "yard" while they were on the sidewalk.

They can be on the sidewalk. That's part of the public Right of Way (ROW). That's fine. In this area, the back of the sidewalk is generally the edge of the ROW; which means that once they're off my side of the concrete, they ARE on my property. They also have their own yard to play in.
Of course, my personal preference is for the 8-10' tall wood fence around my entire property, so it's not an issue; but that's not always possible.
You would end up dead or in the hospital. I mean this 100% literally. If she had not shot and killed you for seeing you having your hands on her child, I would send you to the hospital with many broken bones, where you would be arrested for assaulting a child - whether you had or not. She would kill you. She is highly trained and conditioned in action and reaction in real life situational practice and is an exorbitantly fast and accurate shot. She is not a people-friendly person in general and since she was very violently assaulted (prior to being a gun owner) she does draw down on a person very fast - and has done so since more than once.
Sometimes your I hate children and I want to physically hurt children messages are annoying and make you SOUND like a crazy dangerous old man. Of course, I don't really know you but by your messages. I do recall your asking about hitting other people's children because you wanted to do so for not likely how they were acting around you.
Most neighborhoods have a mean, crazy old asshole. Sometimes they do hurt or kill someone because they are violently crazy. They are the curse of the neighborhood. Some times it is instead the crazy old man who is killed when he goes nuts. Crazy old men who hate children are the most dangerous of all.
It is ILLEGAL for children to ride a bike on the sidewalk. They are required to be in the street. It is not illegal to be on foot, on a bicycle or on an unmotorized scooter on the street.
This was a quiet deadend of a residential cul-de-sac and the mother outside watching them. That's why people move to them and seeing children on bikes or playing basketball with the hoop set up at someone's yard is common.

I'm confident that would be your neighbor's preference too.
Without a fence, kids can be on your property all they want to. To secure property it has to be fenced. A fence is presumed to be a keep out notice. Otherwise it takes specific command to secure land. This would not apply to community owned property such as a condo complex.
A no trespassing sign without a fence is not sufficient as there is no indication of where the property line is.
I thought you were moving to Iran?

I've been looking at Pakistan, and even that is not going well. They're not very interested in Americans being there at the moment. Especially ones who claim to want to stay permanently.
Who ever said committing treason was easy?

My response was to your saying you would have "dragged" the child to the house and then calling the child "your trash" to the mother.
Child on a person's yard hurts nothing - unless they are damaging the yard - so don't live in a neighborhood with children or DO fence your yard if seeing children outside is intolerable. We often have more children in our yard than we can count, though we live in a remote location with only the river and woodland swamp next door.
There is a fundamental difference between someone who sees children playing outside and smiles thinking "oh how sweet" and someone who frowns and mumbles "damn little brats!"
