Oh I'm sure that there's more to it but the charges are what they are and based on what's been presented so far they don't hold water. In fact, they don't hold water so much that they were dropped.

If I had to guess it would be that the kids did something and the neighbor yelled at them. After that there were probably words between the adult parties and somebody chose to call in a favor from a friend just to show that she shouldn't be messed with.

Last thing anyone needs is someone who cannot mind their own business. The police may not be liable, but, this pickle nose neighbor's homeowners policy is probably going to have to defend her then seek to recoup their funds from this knucklehead.

When the hell did we decide, as a society, that a 6 and 9 year outside their own home cannot play unsupervised? Many of you seem to be conceding that if this Mommy had not been outside, with "eyes on" at all times, she WAS guilty of child endangerment.

When my kid was 9, I was enrolled in the Tax Law program at the University of Florida, and I allowed her to roam the whole campus. She would bike to the lake, or explode the woods, or just ride. (I actually regret this now and think I was too cavalier about her safety.) Should I turn myself in to the cops as a neglectful mother now, ya think?

It would never even occur to me to call the cops because there are children outside in my housing association today whose parents I can't see. I think this is preposterous unless the family lives in a condo next to I-75.

Pinkie the one who called the police lied to them about hitting one of the children with her car. There was nothing the mother did that was wrong.

I saw that (man, this is one creepy story). I'm just startled and amazed anyone thinks we can call the cops and report child neglect if one of our neighbors allows his kids out to play unsupervised.

Kids don't play the same when their parents are "eyes on", and I'm shocked that anyone thinks depriving them of this freedom is desirable, nevermind legally required.

According to this rendition of what occurred apparent an expert from the complaint, "Unknown Officer went across the street to talk with defendant Fuller. It was at this point that Fuller reported, for the first time, that she had struck one of Cooper's children with her vehicle as they played in the street," the complaint states. "Unknown Officer returned to Cooper's home, and after another conversation with Unknown Officer, Cooper was placed under arrest for the felony offenses of child endangerment and child abandonment.

Never at any point were any of Cooper's children hit by a car as they played in the street. Moreover, Cooper was observing her children the entire time they were outside on the date of her arrest and thus could not plausibly have abandoned them. Despite the fact that Fuller alleged she had hit one of the children with her vehicle, no medical response was called for or needed as it was obvious that neither child had been hit by a car or was hurt in any way. Interestingly, Fuller was never confronted about her lie regarding striking the child with the car."

Maybe somebody knows somebody on the police force and called in a hit.
It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

No, a homeowner's policy would not cover any of this. I doubt the lawsuit goes anywhere anyone. A person has near total civil lawsuit immunity for calling the police about anything. However, the police could prosecute for a false police report. A liable/slander suit would exist if the neighbor told other people and not just the police.

Yes, if the mom is telling the truth, then it is absurd, but we don't know yet if she is being truthful or not. It's her word against the police and the neighbor. I find it hard to believe that the police would have arrested her if she was sitting in her lawn chair watching her children as she claimed.

Depends on what is purchased, but, yes home owners umbrella policy is the the right policy that would be triggered. The woman had $7000 in legal fees because of the neighbor's false police report.
