Oh, you're just trying to distract from the real story, Romney being evil. How dare you inject such partisan hackery into this discussion, which is clearly about Romney being evil. Were it not for Romney being so evil, I'd have time to respond in full, but Romney's just so evil.

Not that I don't think it was pre-planned, but why would anyone believe a thing Al Qaeda said?

Confirmed by the Libyan gov't...these folks showed up with RPGs and attacked a safe house where US personnel were being taken for safety. Neither of those two things strike me as spur of the moment.

You can be sure Ambassador Rice's version will be trumpeted by the "Mighty Wurlitzer" as it is a perfect example of press management in the ol' USA. If al Queda planned and executed an event in a country that we just instigated an insurrection in, it speaks a language the "Mighty Wurlitzer" doesn't like. Ginnin' up wars and ginnin' up profits. What could be more American? Ya' think?

If an alleged statement from al qaeda causes fear in Americans it is 100% true. All other statements are lies.

Meanwhile the guy who made the video was picked up at his home in SoCal last night for parole violations. By federal agents. At 1:40 in the morning. Yup, looks legit to me...

Because combined with everything else we are hearing it is much more plausible than a reference to a film nobody has seen.

The neocons have done a wonderful job of applying metaphysical properties to the Christian Right's view of Satan being everywhere and nowhere at the same time.

Ie. If someone had a personal grudge or some other beef, all they have to do is bomb a place then post on the web al qaeda takes responsibility and the person can go back to their lives without ever worrying about being caught.

You're pretty good at this. Someone points out a flaw in your logic and you answer with a reference to Neocons, Christianity and a possible other excuse that does not fit at all with reports coming from leaders of other countries and intelligence information. You should get in to this professionally. You may even be able to find enough people who agree with you (regardless of reason or evidence to the contrary) that they will help you spread this crap. You critisize Christians for what you think is a contradiction of the laws of physics (as though we are all looking diligently for a red guy with horns and hooves) and yet can not see the glaring difference between what your side wants to believe and all of the evidence to the contrary.

It was not a place that was bombed, it was protests and attacks on American interests in 21 different countries in a short time frame. The odds of that being spontaneous are shorter than your odds of being taken seriously by anybody over 10 years old.

You are not very good at this because you don't even know the thread nor my post was talking about the widespread attacks.

You clearly failed to understand what I meant about the Satan correlation so I will try to help you understand. The Christian right's theology is not based on love, but fear. This is the springboard for every platform they have and they have long used "Satan" as a scapegoat that is everywhere but nowhere at the same time. This is how the neocons have framed al qaeda and the media is all too happy to help because a fearful population is a ball of wet tax clay. Don't be surprised of another attack on the US either on the continental soil or very close to it. 9-11 was a long time ago and people are forgetting about the mythical War on Terror and focusing too much on actual issues.

Regarding the widespread attacks, the fact they happened is not proof in and of itself they were all planned and coordinated. If anyone needs help understanding why, just ask.

I hope Obama will retaliate or we will see more problems.

Retaliate on whom?

I'm also sure you're right. That is why there has been constant peace in Afghanistan since we got there over a decade ago.

The thread is about the attacks, not your convoluted opinions on the motives of Christians. No one who is a Christian is surprised by the pseudo intellectual gotcha games of someone who does not believe what they do. Incidentally I was an atheist for 20 years and thought I was all smart and stuff too. Turned out I was wrong, and once I went outside of Catholic doctrine I was able to grasp the concepts of Christianity without the guilt and control issues of the Vatican. It's not the first time religion has been used by a government to control the masses, just look at the current administration's stance on Global Warming. I suggest we get back on topic.

This is the OP I'm responding to in this thread:

Al-Qaeda says attack on U.S. consulate in Libya

Well, well, well....what's that? Another confirmation?

Meanwhile, back at the Department of State:

Which OP are you responding to?

The terrorists would kill Americans and hide in Afghanistan.

Why are you opting to believe the claims of Al Qaeda on this matter?

I trust them the least - if it was pre-planned I need proof beyond something that oozes from their goreholes.

Because, for the second time, they aren't the only ones making this claim...so is the Libyan gov't. Shall I write this in crayon for anyone else who seems to have a problem reading past the first sentence of a post?
