Navy SEAL on Bin Laden Raid Speaks Out

Well the US has the highest rate of rapes anywhere in the world. And I am pretty sure there are a lot of murders too.

But I don't bash the people. Only the government. And I live in AMERICA. But don't worry once I am done with school. Its adios muchachos.

You bashed people and made accusations which you cannot back up with evidence. I have no doubt you "live in AMERICA", but where are you from?

Yeah, if the seals were anymore of murderers they probably would have done it. But then again, they probably raped all the women in the compound. Which is just as bad, if not worse then being killed. And while the women may have known who OBL was. You obviously don't understand what love is or being blinded by a charismatic psychopath is like.

Still not buying it. A thousand rangers and SOF personal could have done the same thing. Which is exactly my point.

And who would be backing them up?Who would be securing the supply lines and maintaining their equipment? Please enlighten me.

Unmanned drones will back them up and let them know where the enemy is and coming from. Armor columns will protect their equipment that will make sure they get it in time.

LMAO You do realize that you need regular ground troops to man those tanks right? Then you need support troops to maintain those tanks and so on and so forth....your ignorance on how things work are mind numbing.

No, you just blanketing my whole argument to make it seem like I AM THE ONE with no idea. Good attempt but it won't work. I never said anything against support troops or mechanics.

No not really, your the one that is making the argument that we do not need an Army :)

Comeagain?

No worries. I've worked with both special needs people and those where English was a second language. I'd rather spend my time with someone who can carry on an intelligent conversation from a point of intellect, education and experience. Since I'm still kinda new here, I'm still not sure who is who yet. Sorry to have bothered you.

These leaks are ****ing ridiculous. Granted, the American people have a right to know eventually, but there are tactics and strategies possibly mentioned in that book that could possibly be read by the enemy, and compromise National Defense Strategies. I was just as pissed when Mr. Obama decided to announce the Bin Laden raid RIGHT AFTER IT HAPPENED. The whole point behind a stealth mission like that is to get in, get the job done, and get out QUIETLY. But no, lets just air that **** on TV immediately so we can face possible reprocussions before we are prepared to deal with them. -facepalm-

I get that people who take a strong stand for national security are terribly upset that details of this raid were released either by the national media or directly from the President himself, but folks forget four very crucial events that took place during the raid:

1) One of our stealth helos crashed at the OBL compound which was located within 25 miles of a residential area. No way was the explosion NOT going to draw attention from the surrounding community. As such...

2) A local resident tweeted on the crash as it happened. Which lead to...

3) Pictures taken of the wrecked soon circulated across social media, i.e., Twitter and YouTube. And finally...

4) OBL's wives discussed the raid with Pakistani media which their stories, in turn, found their way into international news.

The mere fact that Twitter was abuzz over the explosion and YouTube had video footage of the wreckage alone meant that the U.S. defense department let alone the White House could not contain this story no matter how hard they might have tried. Now, details of the raid could have been handle differently, but public knowledge of the raid would never have been kept under wraps - not in this age of social media. Anyone who thinks differently concerning the raid and how the world became aware of it are just fooling themselves and pandering to their own political ideological position and completely ignoring reason and reality.

Well good luck with your quest.

Yes sir you are correct,I cannot fault the Obama* admin for how they handled the aftermath...Like I said before one of the few things I think they got right.

Thanks! Same with your whatever. :)

Just don't let me be the one telling you this. But internet life is crawling with dead space and no signs of life are anywhere but porn sites.

I suspect I've been on the Internet longer than you have been out of diapers. I first went online in 1986. You?

I think the author should have chosen the pen name Benedick Arnold. He is looking to cash in on his 15 minutes by throwing the reputation of the Navy Seals under the bus and saying **** you to the Pentagon. He legally signed non disclosure and the DOJ should pursue this if he has breeched his agreement. he will simply be remembered as a political pawn and a sell out instead of an American hero.

I just read the link Maggie posted. This guy might be in some serious legal trouble.

You joking? To drag this man to court, the man who risked his life? who made this mission succesful..... who is a hero.... I simply do not see it.

Also

"The Pentagon is pondering whether to take legal action against the former Seal Matt Bissonnette for publishing his account of the episode without official clearance, but at the same time newly released documents reveal that the CIA bent over backwards to help the Oscar-winning film director Kathryn Bigelow, whose forthcoming film of those events is said to portray the President as "gutsy". ?????????????????????

Is it me? am I the only one here who sees unfairness in this?

Valid Point. But still, My point remains that alot of details ended up being leaked that shouldn't have been. When the history channel comes in and makes a fully detailed documentary on the Bin Laden raid, the president gives names of the Admiral and top security personnel involved, and invites hollywood in within a week of the event, it creates an unnecessary risk of Achmed being able to study our tactics and counter them.

Not at all. The president is guilty of leaking National Security information just like Mr. Bissonette. From top to bottom, the details of that mission should not have been leaked. It destroys an otherwise effective mission tactic when you reveal details of the mission like that.

He is a hero no doubt. However, should the terms of his agreement require him to have taken steps prior to publishing then like any contractual obligation he should answer if he was in breach of those requirements.

The fact that he is a hero may be considered in this as has been done with others before him.

This appears to have been done after much consideration and consultation with all necessary departments to insure that all legal obligations have been met. If not, I am sure there are enterprising types that would enjoy exploiting this to their own ends. If I were in this arena I know I would....:)

However, the Obama administration "is applying double standards to prosecute a five-time winner of the Bronze Star while dragging its feet in identifying and charging senior administration officials who have purposefully leaked classified information" on the movie!

That's unfair!

Perhaps you are correct. each investigation and possible prosecution has a life of it's own and works within it own times frame.

Ultimately regarding the SEAL whatever contract obligations or restrictions he had will determine the rights and liabilities of the parties. That is what is fair as he entered that contract of his own free will.

Heroes are not supposed to be sent to court. He killed Bin Laden he is a hero. Let him...

Period.
