I suspect I've been on the Internet longer than you have been out of diapers. I first went online in 1986. You?

I just read the link Maggie posted. This guy might be in some serious legal trouble.

You joking? To drag this man to court, the man who risked his life? who made this mission succesful..... who is a hero.... I simply do not see it.

    1) One of our stealth helos crashed at the OBL compound which was located within 25 miles of a residential area. No way was the explosion NOT going to draw attention from the surrounding community. As such...

    2) A local resident tweeted on the crash as it happened. Which lead to...

    3) Pictures taken of the wrecked soon circulated across social media, i.e., Twitter and YouTube. And finally...

    4) OBL's wives discussed the raid with Pakistani media which their stories, in turn, found their way into international news.

The mere fact that Twitter was abuzz over the explosion and YouTube had video footage of the wreckage alone meant that the U.S. defense department let alone the White House could not contain this story no matter how hard they might have tried. Now, details of the raid could have been handle differently, but public knowledge of the raid would never have been kept under wraps - not in this age of social media. Anyone who thinks differently concerning the raid and how the world became aware of it are just fooling themselves and pandering to their own political ideological position and completely ignoring reason and reality.
Valid Point. But still, My point remains that alot of details ended up being leaked that shouldn't have been. When the history channel comes in and makes a fully detailed documentary on the Bin Laden raid, the president gives names of the Admiral and top security personnel involved, and invites hollywood in within a week of the event, it creates an unnecessary risk of Achmed being able to study our tactics and counter them.

Not at all. The president is guilty of leaking National Security information just like Mr. Bissonette. From top to bottom, the details of that mission should not have been leaked. It destroys an otherwise effective mission tactic when you reveal details of the mission like that.

He is a hero no doubt. However, should the terms of his agreement require him to have taken steps prior to publishing then like any contractual obligation he should answer if he was in breach of those requirements.

The fact that he is a hero may be considered in this as has been done with others before him.

This appears to have been done after much consideration and consultation with all necessary departments to insure that all legal obligations have been met. If not, I am sure there are enterprising types that would enjoy exploiting this to their own ends. If I were in this arena I know I would....

However, the Obama administration "is applying double standards to prosecute a five-time winner of the Bronze Star while dragging its feet in identifying and charging senior administration officials who have purposefully leaked classified information" on the movie!

    That's unfair!

Perhaps you are correct. each investigation and possible prosecution has a life of it's own and works within it own times frame.

Ultimately regarding the SEAL whatever contract obligations or restrictions he had will determine the rights and liabilities of the parties. That is what is fair as he entered that contract of his own free will.

Heroes are not supposed to be sent to court. He killed Bin Laden he is a hero. Let him...

    Period.
