Missouri Republican claims 'legitimate rape' rarely results in pregnancy[W:137]

Re: Missouri Republican claims 'legitimate rape' rarely results in pregnancy

I am vehemently, sometimes even furiously, pro-choice and particularly in regards to sexual assault. "Pro-choice" means the woman's choice.

HOWEVER, people going berserk over his statement is just more political correctness crap. It was NO SECRET that he opposed abortion in the event of rape - so there is no real shocker in his statement OTHER THAN his attempting to trivialize rape-pregnancies - that DO happen. OFTEN. Whether this is statistically the same, higher or lower than consentual sex is an irrelevancy in my opinion.

I do NOT have a problem with his usage of "legitimate rape" - though not the best choice, but he likely meant he was not including statutory rape (consentual sex but the female is underage).

I AM TIRED OF THE EXTREME DEMANDS FOR POLITICAL CORRECTNESS!!! I intensely disagree with his view on abortion, but then that was all known BEFORE his statement. There were NO surprises about him in what he said. He was a no exceptions anti-abortion before his statement.

IF I were him I wouldn't drop out. He'll never have another political chance in his life and Missouri is an odd state where in at some point voters might get tired of the rabid raging against him. He has no other game left to play politically. This election is the only game he still has to ever play.

The EXTREME demand for correctness and perfect or the media does its OMG!!!!! thing - is resulting in politicians who will ONLY talk to a teleprompter with speeches written by professionals and just chanting pre-written talking points developed by using study groups.

You know, people getting in an uproar is democracy at work.

Fine, he should stay in the race, and anyone offended by what he said can not vote for him. After he loses badly because every non-legitimate rapist in MO, maybe the Tea Partiers will learn.

Statutory raps is not consensual. And the victim can also be a boy.

I believe this extreme-right congressman was implying that women will attempt to get a legal abortion by claiming rape.

I know, this makes no sense. Why lie to get a perfectly legal medical procedure? You see, the Christian-right won't acknowledge that abortions are a legal and often necessary medical procedure. They want to cast doctors and their female patients in this gross negative light by implying that trashy women will lie to get an abortion.

This disgusting congressman was also letting a little secret out of the bag. There are documented far-right position papers claiming that women, during a rape, secrete a fluid that kills sperm. That is what they actually believe and tell each other in their meetings. Ergo, if a 'rape victim' gets pregnant she must have liked it--in their twisted minds.

Facts: All women secret a fluid in their vagina that can kill sperm during sex. However, in the male pre-ejeculte there is a neutralizing enzyme.

And that's where babies come from...

we should have a contest to see who can most closely predict the time he drops out today.

i pick 2:30 pm EST.

I definitely agree a sexual assault can be against a boy, but not an assault that can result in pregnancy.
In fact, "statutory rape" may be consentual in fact, and the non-consent is only a legal definition.

I'm not going to defend his pro-life stance being that I am vehemently pro-choice. RATHER, the supposed SHOCK! at what he said is just media OMG!!!!ing is tiresome. I see this as another Chic-A-Fila DIVERSION to emotions. All this was known about Akin's before his statement as it was known he is a no-exceptions "pro-lifer."

He's not dropping out any time soon. His neck of the woods still believes women who are raped are at fault for allowing it to happen.

And his cohorts in Tampa are drawing up a Republican platform that includes a anti-abortion plank that does not exclude abortion due to rape or incest. People might as wel face it, Akins is just a mainstream Republican now. Why should he drop out? Because he let the cat out of the bag?

Re: Missouri Republican claims 'legitimate rape' rarely results in pregnancy

You understand that this GOP senate candidate was dead serious, right? He wasn't joking. He isn't even claiming he was joking. How could you compare that to an obvious joke?

Biden wasn't joking, neither.

But hey, he apologized, admitted that it was a stupid thing to say. Give it a rest.

If he stays in, he's toast. Just ask Santorum how well his stance on "Babies from rape are a gift from God" helped him get the Presidential nomination.

The Akins have 6 children, so he has no excuse for not comprehending simple biology. The family is Christian fundamentalist, and home schooled their children. Akin is on record for opposing "the Morning After Pill."

He's running against Clair McKaskil. No real competition there.

Do you know what diversions are? Apparently you do since you are so desperately diverting.

There is no real competition. Democrats keep the seat in a walk now.

The Democrat in the race is a tax evader. Where the calls from the Libbos for her to step down?

Re: Missouri Republican claims 'legitimate rape' rarely results in pregnancy

Is there any reason left whatsoever for a rational woman to even consider electing a Republican?

The Libbos would be more than happy to run against this guy now. It's the Republicans who want him to step aside. Maybe because they had a shot, and he just pissed it away.

I guess Republican birth control = "legitimate rape."

Oh, are we playing that game called "Quick, Change The Subject"?

My turn, my turn...

Darn, I'm not very good at this, mine is related to the OP.

Re: Missouri Republican claims 'legitimate rape' rarely results in pregnancy

Hmmm ... the death penalty? Help me out and show me where you got this about Romney and Ryan wanting the death penalty. Somehow I've missed that.

A L
I got it from the mouths of Romney and Ryan's Pro-Life voting base......

hb1.html

Georgia Lawmaker's Anti-Abortion Proposal Could Punish Women for Miscarriages | Fox News

Introduced by Rep. Bobby Franklin [of Georgia], the bill would require that any woman who has had a miscarriage report the incident to authorities within 72 hours of its occurrence. At that point, an investigator will be dispatched to determine the cause of death, and if the mother cannot prove that there was no “human involvement,” then she can be charged with “prenatal murder,” which carries the penalty of death or life behind bars.

Better start voting to build more prisons, Lurker....and more graveyards because we're going to need them if Romney and Ryan are elected.

Yea, he did apologize, but was that apology legitimate or forcible? LOL.
