Pregnant Woman Relieved To Learn Her Rape Was Illegitimate | The Onion - America's Finest News Source

“Being violently coerced into having sex was the worst thing that’s ever happened to me, so I take comfort in knowing it wasn’t actually rape,” Byars said of the vicious encounter in which she was accosted in an alleyway by a stranger, pinned to the ground, and penetrated against her will for 25 minutes.
That rape couldn't have been legitimate.

Not everyone in Missouri voted for him. He's the republican candidate. Don't paint all of us with the same brush.

    He should stand his ground.

Republicans should not let the pro-choice liberals influence who their candidates are.

I feel like it's insane I have to disclaim this, but given how people have responded thus far, I will: I am not defending the anti-choicer in the OP. I am defending scientific accuracy. It does not matter to me if the chances are lower. Women who are raped deserve access to abortion. Any woman deserves access to abortion. However, I will not abandon accuracy to make that point. I don't have to.
You are not "defending accuracy", you are extending his arguement by relating rape to all stress events. His statement is not accurate to begin with even with your extension, the body do not "try to shut that whole thing down" even if there is a reduction in the chances of fertilisation under stress due to the presence of certain stress hormones. While you have shown that there is scientific evidence that stress reduces the probability of fertilisation, his statement is still very much incorrect and without scientific merits.

Actually the pro-choice liberals would be thrilled if he stayed in, as that makes this a safe Democratic seat.

There's no point in having sex once a day (unless they want to). Women are only fertile a few days during each cycle.

It varies. It's the timing that matters. Having sex 4-7 days before or 2 days after ovulation doesn't do anything. Having sex too frequently over a short period can actually reduce sperm count so they recommend you have sex every other day if you are trying to conceive and doesn't care to follow when you or your partner are fertile.

Obama lost Missouri in the last presidential election. Akin can still win.

It is not impossible, but it is much less likely now.
