Mitt Romney: 'I Never Paid Less Than 13 Percent' In Taxes

I just don't understand how ANYONE can believe Mitt Romney paid NO taxes in the last 10 years. And if you can't believe that he didn't pay taxes for the last 10 years, then why is this important?

Will it solve the unemployment problem? The economy problem? Housing problem? If not, why the hell is this even on the RADAR for this election other than partisan tripe which should be ignored?

Your devotion and love of the estate tax and the hysterics you go into when the tax is called the popular nickname "Death tax" is truly touching

"popular nickname" !?!?!?!?! The "popular nickname for an inheritance windfall is "death tax"?

And the "popular nickname for richard is dick.

Yada, yada, yada! Have a nice day.

What's yada?

Look, what you're saying is the same thing as birthers/school-record people:

By waiting until then I think would be more harmful for him. He should have released his taxes a long time ago and it probably would have blown over by now. He make a huge mistake imo.

It was not embarrassing to comply with demands from the people. Romney should have taken this advice. Now it may be too late.

That's the same as "Obama should have released the birth certificate!" and "his school records! What's he hiding?!"

One would think that after birthers and school-record people, Obama supporters would be a little more sensitive to making the same mistake.

Shouldn't the Mod's combine the 100 or so 'mitt should show his taxes!' threads into one large birther like thread? Heck, it seems it might be approaching the point of the subject having it's own forum so everyone with common sense doesn't have to both seeing it non-stop.

The purpose is every other candidate for president has done it for starters.....
BURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Wrong Answer. That doesn't explain why it is needed information.

secondly it shows exactly the amount of adjusted tax he paid percentage wise...this is pertinent since he and ryan are running on TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH to the tune of a full 20%....
A. What does it matter how much he paid in taxes when he has NEVER been in a position to control the tax rate previously? B. Please show your source for the 20% TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH plan from an Official Romney Campaign source. Thanks in advance.
the american people have a right to see romneys tax returns just like ryans and obamas.....its clear hes trying to keep something from the american people..and its eitehr how little he actually paid in taxs or where and how he has his money ducked all over the place....but the bottom line is he and the rich cant afford to have it rubbed in americas face just how little they really do pay in taxs and how all their whining is and has been a crock of ****
And what does how much he pays in taxes have to do with his ability to lead the country???

Why is nobody making any sense with all of this nonsense.....

I'm afraid it going to be a topic for the rest of the campaign, Romney will have to withdraw if he reveals those forms.

Why? What do those forms have to do with his ability to be a leader of this nation?

What possible information could be contained within that would cause him to withdraw?

I believe he took amnesty for unreported income deposited in his (formerly) secret Swiss bank account. The Swiss bankers were forced to reveal the names on their numbered accounts in 2009. Romney closed his account around the time the Govt. offered an amnesty deal to account holders. He didn't even mention the Swiss account in his financial disclosure forms until called on it. He is obviously quite embarrassed by it.

So... its his personal finances......

Heaven forbid he fails to release his Blockbuster rental log.

No, he won't have to. Of course the extreme left want's to believe that, but it's just as nutty as the 9-11 was an inside job and we never landed on the moon crap.

There is a HUGE difference between hiding your money in off-shore cayman island accounts and swiss bank accounts in order to avoid paying taxes in America and your "Blockbuster rental log". I'm kinda surprized that you don't know that Caine.

And this is exactly the reason why Americans are demanding that Romney release his tax records. Americans have a right to know if the person who is seeking the highest office in the land manipulated the US system and avoided paying taxes for much of the last decade. Romney is obviously hiding something that would tank his campaign. Its time for Romney to come clean to the American public....no Mr. Romney...we won't just take your "word" for it. Your "word" is seriously lacking in integrity.

I don't think that anyone believes that Romney would have to withdraw....but there is obviously something in his tax returns that he doesn't want the American people to see.....Something that would make it even more difficult to get elected....which begs the question...what is it that Romney doesn't want people to see?

Again, more of the 'truther', 'birther' nonsense.

LOL....the romney supporter would love to play this off as "birther-esque"...but ever wonder why that argument has found little traction? Because releasing tax returns is something that not only is required (at least minimally) but something that has a history dating back decades in this country. How many candidates were ever asked to show a birth certificate? Know the answer to that question? hmmmmm...lets see......oh......ONE...and why was Obama asked to show a birth certificate? Need another clue? Because he didn't look like the typical candidate.

The reality is....Romney is hiding something from the American people and says "You'll just have to take my word". No, Mr. Romney....Americans DON'T just have to take your word. Come clean with the American people.

Great job outing yourself there. I am not a supporter of either of the 'big two' candidates, they both suck. Perhaps you should consider your comment about 'traction', and take a look at the reality that nobody but Romney haters seem to give a crap about the tax returns.

I don't consider that 'reality', I consider that full on koolaid drinking fantasy.

(Any idiot can play this retarded paranoid speculation game).

BUT.... what does that have to do with Romney's ability to lead?

Tax records are a PERSONAL item. The purpose of viewing them needs to be a PERSONAL one. Specific to ROMNEY'S (not anyone else's) ability to lead the country.

It doesn't say anything about his ability to lead. It says the Bush tax cuts were a bone to the ultra rich like Romney, who ended up paying at a lower overall rate than I pay, and I'm middle class. That's wrong. That's why I'll support Obama.

you don't pay a higher rate on like income

you don't pay as much tax dollars as he does

that is a moronic reason to support Obama when Romney only follows the tax laws others passed

the current tax rates were signed into law By Obama

might want to rethink your rant

You don't even understand the issue. It is not whether I pay the same rate on like income.

The tax system is SUPPOSED to be PROGRESSIVE. Richer people are supposed to pay a higher percentage of their total income in taxes, because they can better afford to pay the taxes and still be rich.

I am a wage earner who earns much less than Romney. Romney earns almost all of his income from long term capital gains, which is also true of many other very wealthy people.

Income from wages and income from long term capital gains are BOTH INCOME. They should be taxed at the same rate. The rich should not be given special privilege over the wage earner.

Because I earn a proportionally larger part of my income from wages does not mean I should pay tax at an overall rate higher than a rich person who makes most of his income from long term capital gains.

But that is what is happening, I pay an overall tax rate higher than Romney, and that's wrong.

It is not moronic to support Obama because he advocates a fairer tax model than the republicans, rather, it's the right thing to do. It's not the only reason I support Obama, he didn't blow up a bubble in housing, he didn't preside over a collapse of the banking system, he didn't start a trillion dollar war over WMD that didn't exist, and he is taking steps to correct the most egregious abuses of health insurance companies like allowing them to drop paying customers who get seriously ill or refusing to cover them at all.

How would that tank his campaign?

If he got caught in a UBS/KPMG tax shelter scandal.

That would be pretty bad.

I'm leaning that way hard right now. Romney wouldn't let the Democrats go hog wild painting him as a legal tax evader if he didn't have something worse. In times like this, having people think you paid little is not good for your image. But what's worse than that? Getting caught in an illegal tax shelter.

Campaigns don't let rumors like this go on for this long unless refuting them releases a bigger problem. Especially in times like these.

As a licensed CPA, Romney paid taxes. Maybe not in a few key years due to massive capital losses (which can be expected), but for the majority, he paid. The question now is what else is on his returns. Letting voters think you used high powered tax attorneys to pay next to nothing is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than having people know you got caught up in a big tax scandal.

So you think Obama is running against Bush?

How would his tax records from the IRS prove he did anything illegal.......

If it does..... wouldn't the IRS have already found that out by now?
