It would just be his luck he would get shooters that shoot low. Ah of all the rotten luck.

Actually getting the actual bullet in the heart is not the painful part. Waiting day by day and then hour by hour for the execution is the justice.

Sure. I personally dont think anyone should do it. But in the real world this aint gonna happen.
 
Part of me thinks that a good punishment for murderers and rapists who get LWOP should not be death penalty, but eternal solitary confinement in a straight jacket. That might fall within cruel and unusual punishment, and wouldn't be a good deterrent against true psychopaths, but for your standard scumbag it would be the perfect way to punish them. I probably wouldn't support such a thing since it is unnecessarily cruel.

As far as punishments go firing squad isn't actually that cruel, as long as the shots are good enough so that the executed person doesn't end up dying a slow and painful death. James Holmes doesn't seem like the guy who'd feel sorry once he saw rifles pointed at him either, so I'm not sure what the point would be for such an execution.

ultimately the best punishment for him would be life in the general prison population. every day worrying who is going to shank him. worrying every night what is going to happen in the dark

far better than lethal injection or a firing squad

If we are aiming for true psychological punishment solitary confinement would be FAR better. Sure it would be kind of hard being packed in with angry thugs, but it wouldn't compare to being denied human contact for the rest of your life. That could drive someone INSANE.

I don't think it should actually happen! I know Holmes is a scumbag but we aren't barbarians, we're civilized, so a torture punishment is not justice, it's vengeance.

That was just plain cruel but made me laugh. Am sorry if I offend some but when you harm a child I am the last person you want to mess with.

Im sure there will be those that start screaming he has mental problems he needs help...errr no he doesnt...he needs to be gone so his insanity doesnt kill anyone else...theres the mentally ill...then theres scumbags like this NUT...two different things entirely

As much as guilt has been well determined and measured, I'd still say no to the death penalty. But it's CO, and CO has very very stringent DP rules. Here, the evidence is overwhelming and they could conceivably push for the DP.
