I can answer this. Obama and the president of Turkey were testing a new version of wii, where one guy hits the video ball at one end of the connection and the other guy bits it back.

(CNN) - It's still a mystery why President Barack Obama was holding a baseball bat during his telephone conversation with Turkey's prime minister earlier this week. An official White House photo shows the president with the bat in one hand and a phone in the other.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney was asked about the photo on Tuesday and promised get some answers but so far nothing.

The photo is getting quite a bit of attention in overseas publications wondering about "hidden messages" or the "symbolic meaning" of the president holding the baseball bat.

The White House released a short readout of Monday's call, which focused on Turkey's neighbor Syria, saying the "two leaders shared their growing concerns about the Syrian regime’s ruthless attacks against its own people, most recently in Aleppo."

Tensions between Turkey and Syria have escalated after the Syrians downed a Turkish plane earlier this summer.

So, the POTUS is on the phone while holding a baseball bat, and that somehow is newsworthy.

Must have been a slow news day.

Nothing happens by accident. The photo is fairly clearly posed. And when it was taken/published there had to be relative certainty it would generate a response.

    Too funny.....
I've almost overlooked: doesn't that baseball bat say "White Power" on it? For a small fee, I can sell hints to try to connect to Obama's account at stormfront.com. Any interest?

I often play with things when I am on the phone. Playing with a pen or pencil helps me keep my line of thought.

maybe he's trying to channel Teddy Roosevelt. (sorry, i couldn't resist.)

i doubt that the bat should be taken in any negative context that CNN might be implying; it's almost certainly a coincidence. Turkey is our ally.
