Tentative Agreement Reached in Congress, Avoiding Government Shutdown

2:33 p.m. | Updated House and Senate leaders reached a tentative agreement on Tuesday that would pay for federal government operations through next March, averting the prospect of a messy government shutdown just before the November elections.
And the Tea Party Caucus is really pissed. I wonder how long Boehner is going to last as Speaker? But Boehner still sees reality, and what a government shutdown would do to Republican prospects in an election year. This is about self preservation, but like lemmings running towards the waters, the Tea Party Caucus doesn't see it that way. If the GOP has a good November, you can thank John Boehner for it, in spite of the extremist craziness.

Re: Tentative Agreement Reached in Congress, Avoiding Government Shutdown

While popular rhetoric by the Republican party espouses an "anti-government" line, it's not really true. Extremists like the Tea Party moan and wail about how much they hate government, but professional politicians like longstanding members of the Republican party know that compromise and a realistic approach is necessary.
