Mitt’s British Blunders: How It Played In The UK Press

Mitt Romney is off to a spectacularly bad start in London, at least according to the British press ridiculing the Republican candidate on his first major foreign trip.
British officials — and the newspapers that cover them — took offense to Romney questioning whether London is well-prepared to handle the security issues ahead of the summer games. Romney called the situation “disconcerting.” British Prime Minister David Cameron hit back, saying there is no doubt “Britain can deliver.”
“We are holding an Olympic Games in one of the busiest, most active, bustling cities anywhere in the world,” Cameron added. “Of course it’s easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere.”

The reaction of our politicians were hilarious. Typical Johnson - and Cameron, using typical British humour as a comeback.

Hah, that's international diplomacy for you.

I don't much like Cameron, but I thought his response was perfect.

Just to clear up this confusion, the controversy is over the fact that there are rows of empty seats in the front, where the reserved seats are (for VIPs, sponsors and the like), while the 'cheap seats' are full to bursting with Brits among others.

I'm always amazed when anybody turns out to watch some of those Olympic sports.

Maybe they ought to cover the Olympic blunders being pointed out instead of the guy pointing them out in the first place.

Crap I guess he has lost Britains vote. Losing that many electoral votes is probably going to kill him. He should just concede now.

You honestly think nobody in Britain has had any concerns about the Olympic games? Where do you live - Hooterville?

Romney was a guest in Briatin. It wasn't his job to point out problems - in fact it was damned rude. As even Conservative commentators like Krauthammer have figured that out.
