Because the 2.67% households making $200,000 can afford to do without the 5% tax cuts they have been enjoying for the last decade without affecting basic living needs, and it will have most positive effect on our economy.

those are no longer tax cuts. those are normal rates that have lasted longer than rate since Carter. YOu are in no position to determine what people who pay more than you can afford. You can afford a return to the Clinton era tax hikes as much as I can. And you are still getting a far better deal

You keep forgetting that it is middle class tax cuts that stimulate the economy. As Clinton noted, "its the economy stupid."

The tax rates are what the majority of Americans decide they will be. And as previously noted, there is no reason for the 97% of American's that make less than $200,000 a year to continue to allow an increased deficit, greater wealth inequality, and a slower economy, just so less than 3% of the population can continue to increase their personal wealth while everyone else suffers. It makes no logical sense to continue to allow it.

The main reason for the deficit is our 30 year experiment with trickle down economics and financial deregulation which failed both for the working class of this country and our economy. There is no valid reason for 97% of this country to continue to allow it.

Not at all, what bothers me is that the wealthy are taking the tax cuts we allowed to create jobs in this country, and are instead creating jobs in India and China which is not benefiting American workers. There is no reason for the working class in this country to continue to allow it.
 
ALL the Bush era TEMPORARY tax cuts should be allowed to expire, and the wages paid for ordinary folk should be adjusted up to get back to some sort of sanity, since the disparity in wages for the rich vs. the poor is ALSO part of the problem....
Or we could make the executive salaries go down...or both....
 
this country was doing great before we had welfare socialism. The only purpose of the welfare state is to create dependent leaches who have to vote dem.

or better yet we could go to a flat tax and tell the government to get the hell out of areas it is not properly empowered to act

Uh most of our success in the 1950s was due to the fact we were the only major industrial power left

yet we continued and grew welfare socialism and our middle class is now indolent and dependent

I would agree with that except for extending the middle class tax cuts until we are a little further out of the Great Recession. That's why I agree with the Democrats plan that passed the Senate, that the extension of the middle class tax cuts would only be for one year.

Our forefathers that created and supported those programs in the 50s - 80s in both parties were really socialists and Marxists. Hasn't the far right informed you?
