Aurora Suspect James Holmes' Mother: 'You Have the Right Person'

July 20, 2012

Wow!

The far Left got their latest breaking news story wrong again.

Is anyone the least bit surprised?

The Tea Party Patriots had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with this tragic incident.

Looks like the Left was a little too overzealous in their desire to use this horrific event, which includes 3 month old babies being shot to death, to score political points in the hopes of getting Barack Obama reelected. Did any other media sources jump the gun in blaming the Tea Party? Will they each apologize like ABC News has done?

Editor's Note: An earlier ABC News broadcast report suggested that a Jim Holmes of a Colorado Tea Party organization might be the suspect, but that report was incorrect. ABC News and Brian Ross apologize for the mistake, and for disseminating that information before it was properly vetted.

A California woman who identified herself as the mother of James Holmes, the 24-year-old man federal authorities said is the suspect in a mass shooting in an Aurora, Colorado movie theater, told ABC News her son was likely the alleged culprit, saying, "You have the right person."

The woman, contacted at her home in San Diego, spoke briefly with ABC News and immediately expressed concern her son may be involved in the shooting death of at least 12 people overnight.

"You have the right person," she said, apparently speaking on gut instinct. "I need to call the police... I need to fly out to Colorado."

What lame reporting.

How did they even confirm the call was his mother? It could be some random stranger just claiming to be.

ABC = tabloid news

In the world of current media statioins, stuff like this happens because everyone wants to be the first person on a breaking story.

Nah, they always get the identity wrong initially in the rush to be the first.

Same thing happen with the Oklahoma bombing. First he was an Indian , then a Muslim , and finally just another American.

After dropping out of medical school, his family should have taken him back to Arizona but he was obviously not getting adequate help from his parents who are in the medical field and they knew what's going on in Holms' troubled mind. The lack of family support contributed to his worsening mental condition when he was traumatised by flunking out of medical school and he may have committed the atrocious crime out of desperation as his life as a honour student was over.

If James is over 18 the parents can't take him anywhere. You can't force an adult to do anything just because you are the Mommy or Daddy. Is Sarah Palin responsible for her daughter being a slut and getting knocked up out of wedlock? Nice to see 'blame the parents' is alive and well, well when it suits the ranter.

Interesting that given all that was gotten wrong, to include his name, in the early reports- being incorrectly identified as a member of the Tea party is what the OP is all about!

I've not read any of this information in any of the news reports I've seen. Please provide a link to support this assertion.

I heard the original report yesterday, and I think it's been completely misinterpretted. She wasn't implying that her son was the right person. She was saying, "Yes, I'm his mother. You've got the right person."

Interesting that immediately she said they had the right person. That tells me he had been talking about this prior.

back to AZ? I read that the parents live in California.

Holmes used to live in San Diego and I assumed that his family still live in his childhood home and his mother has been licensed as a registered nurse for more than 30 years but his father is actually a mathematician and I was wrong on those points. I went through a similar experience with regard to grad school and I think Holmes was rejected by his family for failing to live up to his parents' expectations.

You know, that's the first thing that came to mind. Another deliberate misrepresentation by media trying to further sensationalize a tragedy. Outrageous.

You can "think" anything you wish, of course, but there is no evidence in the link you posted to support that speculation.

Yep, they just fall back on a retraction and rely on past credibility, and we constantly forgive them. I'd rather get the information from someone who gets it right the first time.

ABC News also mischaracterized Holmes' mother's statement and according to his mother, she had no knowledge of the shooting that had taken place in Colorado when she got the call from ABC News and when she said "you have the right person" to a reporter, she was referring to herself not her son, which means that his parents did not know anything about Holmes' sudden change or mental problem.

I'm afraid almost everything that's coming out about this perp is bogus and not to be trusted. I'm completely with that he's a no good horrible bad murdering no good low down evil SOB, but I don't think we're going to get anything out of the news media about him that's accurate for months, IF then. It's all hype and speculation at this point.

MAYBE at some point, years from now, some thoughtful writer will publish a well researched book about what happened. That's the best hope for learning the truth of this matter. I can almost guarantee that it won't have any resemblance to the story we are getting now.

Even then, years from now, that writer's book will be misinterpreted by someone trying to blame whatever the rallying cry is at the time. I can see it now: 'REDDISH/ORANGE HAIR DYE LINKED TO MURDEROUS RAMPAGE, MCDONALDS QUICK TO CHANGE MASCOT"
