USDA partnering with Mexico to boost food stamp participation

so if you have a child with a learning disability such that he will never make more than minimum wage, if that, then what? will you refuse help from society?
the discrimination issue is not the same as learning disabilities, it is racism that has been reduced in the last 50 years, but by no means eliminated. Do we let children starve because their parents are "colored"?

Not sure if I'm reading you right, but I certainly support educating and training those who are willing to be educated and trained and to work. Is society required, though, to guarantee that everybody earn above minimum wage? If your skills and abilities limit you to minimum wage, is this bad or wrong? Is there not a place in our society for everybody, and are there not minimum-wage jobs to be done that are necessary to society too?

As for "discrimination," so long as our brains are human, we are going to recognize, characterize, and distinguish because that's what the human brain does. It recognizes similar/dissimilar, and etc. You can work on dissolving the bonds of kinship (as did the Party in 1984) and all the other human factors including ego and pride, but I don't think there will ever be a human society free of "discrimination" unless we manage to standardize human beings themselves.

Increasingly, American society is being divided not by the haves/have nots but, rather, but by the works/won't works. No, we don't let babies of color--any color--starve. I would be very happy if every school district provided breakfasts, lunches, and end-of-day snacks for every kid in this country. I'll happily pay my share!

But that doesn't change the fact that this is 2012, that education is available for all and other resources too. It doesn't explain why just about half of us work while the other half sits their asses. And I don't think skin color is nearly the issue that those who race-bait, particularly those who make a living at doing so, do.

how do you get HALF of us sitting around? yes, education is available, to all, but sadly too many people fail to take advantage of it, and worse, there are plenty with education who are unemployed because their jobs are being done overseas.

I am in favor of minimum wage rules, but it has to be an hourly rate for real work, and indexed to the rate that congress makes. Since congress isn't likely to increase MW for ordinary folk, we need to reduce congressional BASE pay considerably, and pay them by the hour, with only 2 weeks paid vacation per year..

Politicians must be really bored if they have nothing better to do than feed foreigners.

Why did we invade Iraq again? We would have been better off taking over Mexico.

Good plan. We take a census every ten years, using that we should move our southern border south based on the percentage of Mexican population inside the U.S., within a few decades we would then have the Panama Canal back. ;-)

At least we'd collect taxes from them and solve the drug war in a snap.

you will never read any of my posts saying "even things out"....

If there are any children starving in the US because of their parents color, it is statistically nominal.

How about we reverse that.

Representatives make the mean wage of the people they represent. Representatives their district, Senators their State, President the nation.

I guess that makes it alright, then....?
but I am not limiting my remarks to just food. Job discrimination is still a major issue in the USA.

add to that term limits and you might be on to something....6 years maximum term for all of them, no benefits.
And if they go corrupt within that 6 years, they can serve another 6 in Leavenworth Federal Prison, in Kansas, without airconditioning...

That means other adults should have to take care of them because...?
Well because if you do not take care of a child, that is called neglect which is a crime. Now if the child dies from neglect then it becomes a homicide. That means if you are walking down the street and come upon an infant and scoff at the parents for not being there, and walk away then the child dies from exposure, then you go to jail. Or if you see a child being abused by their parents you are required by law to report them otherwise you can be charged as an Accomplice to the crime. These laws are in effect to protect children from asshole monsters that would leave a child to rot because they just do not care. Talking about lazy....

At any rate you are asserting that the Government should break the law, not a very logical assertion IMO.
