actually that's not how we present ourselves, as Turtle points out. In fact, People who reject the idea that "government has a responsibility to reduce income inequality" give an average of four times more than people who accept that proposition.

The far right contribute to charities for ONE REASON tax deductions...end their tax deductions and see how fast their donations cease lol....what a treat reading your posts turtle....
Except that the majority of the right who donate more to charity see no added tax benefit, as they take the standard deduction. In fact, given that liberal households make more money than conservative ones, they should be the ones (under this standard) giving more money, as the are the ones more likely to actually see any tax benefit.

And what a foolish argument - someone spends 10,000 in order to save 3,500 on their tax bill? And yet this person who is so horrible at math is able to gain and retain significant wealth?

And what tax deduction do conservatives see for also volunteering more of our time, and donating more of our blood?

Number of Americans living in poverty highest since last 52 years under President Obama.
Under President Obama eh? From your own article:

"Between 2009 and 2010, the number of people living in poverty rose by 2.6 million, from 43.6 to 46.2 million people, according to the report." That's a 1.6% increase. So it was okie dokie having 43.6 million people living in poverty under Bush, but its an outrage that it has increased by 1.6%?

And what is the GOP plan to deal with this...........cutting assistance programs to those living in poverty to provide more spending on the military and even bigger tax cuts for the wealthy? That should help!

A rise of 2.6 million or a 1.6% in one year is not a good showing. Under the rest of Obama's administration the situation has certainly not improved. If he gets 4 more years it'll rise to about a 1/3 of the population but it will still be Bush's fault.

    Such tripe!

So your complaint is that Obama hasn't cleaned up Bush's mess fast enough to suit you? The record wealth inequality and poverty caused by 30 years of supply side economics and financial deregulation cannot be fixed in just a few years, or by a continuation of the same policies that created them.

Though if you think you can sell that to the working class in this country, be my guest!

No, my complaint is that the US will not be able to clean up Obama's mess. Its like taking someone's position, spending unprecedented resources then telling your boss it's still your predecessors fault 4 years on. You might get away with it if your boss is as stupid or partisan as some of the commentators on this thread, which is actually Obama's only hope.

I do not know what you are referring to. By almost every measure, Obama has made improvements in the situation he inherited. Most people understand that you can't fix problems 30 years in the making in just 3 and 1/2 years.

I do not doubt that you honestly believe that, but it is still a pathetically weak argument.

    Sure, except that:

    - the unemployment rate is worse
    - the the workforce participation rate is down (at least half of that through workers simply giving up looking for full time work - so if you use the Dec. '08 participation rate, the unemployment rate is really over 9.7%)
    - food stamp usage is up
    - the average house price is down
    - the national debt is WAY up
